Flashing lights for cops

Let me ask you all a question? When you all pass a cop in your car setting up a speed trap on the side of the road, do you go out of your way to warn drivers coming the opposite way a speed trap is ahead? Like flashing your lights repeatedly or even rolling your window down yelling cops or speed trap? I for one do all I can to warn others. The same with meter maids. If I see them about to ticket a car, and I have change, I will fill the meter just to tick the maid off and stop them from giving someone a ticket lol.

I will do the flash on occasion.
It is actually illegal in Cali (some parts at least) to play meter fairy for someone else. Stupid IMO

Flashing your lights in a car in IL is illegal if I remember correctly. On your motorcycle (also if I remember correctly) you are allowed to fluctuate your lights as needed by conditions even if there is oncoming traffic. So I still do it if I feel that I am out of view of the cop setting up the speed area. I'm not going to get a ticket for trying to save someone else from a ticket. So just do it on the bike and if you get a ticket fight it in court claiming you were adjusting your lights for better visibility to other drivers.

Anyways it is still int eh "pay it forward" type of thinking, which I like to try to adhere to. Help out others around you, and someday down the road the favor is returned when you need it.

I do flash my lights but it's illegal for using lights in none emergency situation.
In Poland they have one cop doing speed trap and another one catching people flashing light. I know, I got a ticket for that LOL

The story is that a new gang initiation ritual has become prevalent in our city. The hoodlums pile in a car, at night, and drive the highways and byways with their lights off. The first person who 'flashes' them with their lights (in the time-honored gesture of 'hey, idiot, your lights are off!') becomes their prey. The gangbangers then pursue the samaritan and the initiate must gun him or her down without mercy

I was intrigued by the topic and was researching around. Seems the laws for flashing your headlights can stem from a law that flashing clear lights can only be on emergency vehicles such as police cars or fire trucks. That seems to be what most tickets have been based off of in IL as well as other states. People have gotten off of that ticket with the defense of freedom of speech. As flashing your lights was not harming anyone and was a way of communication to another person or persons.

Flashing light law.

Also they can ticket flashing lights as road rage.

Exactly, and what is worse is this cop only stages here to catch honest people going to work in the morning, I really hate it. The second I see him hunting the citizens, I commence the flashing frenzy right in front of him to show my disgust. He could help the community instead of shaking down the poor honest citizens of their few pennies in a recession.

I flash my lights anytime i see i pass a cop to warn others. it saved my ass some money both on the bike and the car when others have did it for me.

On a funnier note, a buddy of mine was speeding and had a cop flash his brights at him, and sure enough there was a cop (from the same town of westmont) sitting up the road!!! Who heard of the police warning about the police

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

I actually don't like the headlight modulators on bikes. It's annoying and a distraction. Someone could target fixate on that and actually hit you?
