IT - Question/placement

So given the fact that a LARGE portion of the people in here are of some sort of IT background and/or familiarity.

I have a shadowing I'm scheduled to do this coming friday in my IT department, and a little idea of my situation... I'm working towards a CNS degree (Computer Networking Systems) that I'm currently about halfway through, and not being completely familiar with the in's and out's I'm curious if there are any specific questions or scenario's I should ask about while I'm up there? I want to make sure I can take away as much as I can while I'm there.

Ask everything that pops into your head. Without knowing what you know or what environment you're going to. It's hard to say. If you hear something said, ask. Thats the only way you'll learn.

Ask about their environment layout
See if they have taken steps for future expansion or upgrade
What is their disaster recovery plan
Ask about redundant systems and load monitoring
See how they share their information with their support team
Ask how they handle support tickets if there are a lot of users
See if they have any standardization of hardware or software
Inquire how much control the users have over their PC's
I always am intrigued with network security and remote access solutions

Be sure to get down to the nitty gritty and ask the tough questions like...Which girls in the office put out?

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Wow. How could I forget that. Tunnel vision I guess. Be sure to take pics with your cell phone. Or don't come back.
