that's easy...

Quality of life in the Bay Area, especially for anyone that likes to go outside and/or ride etc. etc. etc., is just so many million times better than Aurora that people who live here, even non-crazies, tend to not think twice about taking the bad with the good. YMMV.

I just read the article. Aside from the general idea that more and more laws is not desireable, this is actually probably a good idea. Feeding that shit to kids is not doing anyone any good.

So for anyone that thinks this is craziness, why?

you're taking my freedom away

I'm 5% bodyfat, can lift a fiero. So i will not have a right to get a double cheeseburger because someone else has the say to what I eat.

Or my kids baseball team, who are athletes, won a game, and can't go to mc donalds to celebrate beating the naperville baseball team?

Maybe the government shouldn't let white trash and yuppies to have kids, that would solve the real problem.

I'm with you on the freedom piece of it, although, as I understand it, the law would not prevent one from doing the things you described, but do you take exception to it for any other reason?

Not saying that one reason is not enough...just wondering.

Ok, so I'm torn on the law... I think the parents should manage their kids.

But.....

If the law reduces childhood obesity, then ti reduces medical costs. That ultimately puts money in my pocket, which is a good thing.

There's more to it than personal freedoms and the Gay Bay ridding this item off a disgusting fat food restaurant's menu.

'Merkuns eat like shit. it's not their fault. It's the government's fault for allowing farmers to be monopolized by corporations.

What a great idea. Who needs parents when you have Big Brother to regulate your children for you?

What a bunch of hyper-sanctimonious, control freak, busybodies. Raise your own kids, maybe teach them about being personally responsible, and fuck off.

What is California's school breakfast and lunch like?

remember seeing the government red tape where kids are eating pretty much MCdonald quality food everyday for lunch.

McDonalds not giving a toy away isn't going to stop parents from feeding their kids a gallon of chocolate milk, candy bars, taffy apples, chicken nuggets for breakfast.

Do you realize all the crap that farmers put in the foods delivered to the grocery stores? It's because of our control freak government.

I wish I could go shopping and be personally responsible. It's bullshit how scientists bio-engineer stuff grown from the ground so it can sustain a showering from Round-Up. They should outlaw that type of shit as well. When we're provided with only limited amounts of nutrients to give to our children, we encounter bigger problems that won't surface immediately.

Go to Whole Foods and pay 10x as much for low-yield, locavore, organic, no-chemical produce like the rest of the hippies. Done.

Yep. She makes twice as many bushels per acre, and they aren't infested with weevils as a bonus. My grandchildren will actually be able to afford to eat as a result.

You can always take your grandkids to Whole Foods and feed them hippy food too. Great thing about capitalism is that as long as you want it enough to pay for it, someone will be there to provide it for you. That includes half-rotten, bug infested hippy veggies.

The microorganisms killed with glyphosate (Roundup) are the things in that stuff called dirt that make it possible for plants to grow. While your corporate farmers are killing off the living organisms that makeup your food, I will enjoy the good half of my rotten vegetable and watch your land turn to a barren wasteland unable to produce a damn thing.

WTF!! Just another zhining example of the government over stepping its bounds because we the people allow it, by re-electing this asshats time and time again.

Government....

Please provide a strong national defense for us and deal with the infrastructure. Anything else leave us the fuck alone!

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

A big 'ole +1 to that.

------------------------

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but in this particular case anyone that doesn't see this "law" as the complete sham, mockery and waste of time that it be is simply ignorant of the basis of law in this country. It's so wrong on so many levels that it's not even worth the time to debate. The attack on business, on personal responsibility, freedom of choice, etc etc etc........not to mention COMMON FRICKIN' SENSE!

That's all I have to say about that.

This is a tough one. Is anything that comes from that "restaurant" disgusting and terrible for you yes. Is it idiotic that the government needed to regulate peoples common sense and sense of self preservation...yes. However this is no different then the bans on Joe camel and marketing to children in general. I am all about being a conservative but I am also for doing everything possible helping some parents make better choices for their children so we are not the laughing stock of the world for being a society of obese umpaloompas.
