Pastrana moves from rally to NASCRAP!

http://jalopnik.com/5686703/pastrana...ding-to-nascar

Pastrana Out At Subaru, Heading To NASCAR

Rally champ and hoon king Travis Pastrana left the Subaru team today to drive for Michael Waltrip's NASCAR team in the Nationwide Series. What, too many right turns in rally?

Here's Pastrana's tale of the tape with Subaru: Four national rally championships, 22 race victories, 40 podium finishes and more than 150 stage wins. He's also set the record for climbing Mt. Washington, jumped his Subaru 269 feet into Long Beach Harbor and can beat you at Big Buck Hunter.

Luring Pastrana to NASCAR counts as a marketing coup for the Daytona Beach crowd, showing that whatever some racing fans may think of carbureted, ugly template cars running in endless lines, NASCAR can still draw the world's best drivers.

Lame.

Carmichael has been completely lost in the shuffle there. Pastrana won't be any different.

Not so sure I agree with the Carmichael analogy but I think Pastrana's life is all fun and games and Nascar is so ridiculously more competitive that he may regret this decision down the road.
Although he's succeeded to a high level in everything else he's done so one never knows. His name certainly was lost in rally car..unless you followed rally car

Give him props for trying new shit and doing what he wants.

RC is doing pretty well for his Rookie Season in the Camping Series - He is not one to take anything but first lightly - He will improve, bet on it

Yes and no - I hate the sport but if you ever really study it, it is kind of intense - 200 mph within inches of each other - Draft passes that you have to set up for WELL in advance - Bumpin and Rubbin your way past other drivers while going over a min of 100 mph - Not as boring behind the wheel as it is on TV

How so Mike? I'm not saying RC isn't enjoying what he's doing, just that he's not spectacular at it and no one really cares that he's there. Not that I think that bothers him any.

Curious to see how he does seeing as he was great at every other motor sport hes gotten involved in.

Have to give props to NASCAR seeing as alot of people make fun of them and yet they have probably the most money of all US racing orgniziations. Bringing it from something that started running moonshine......to What it is now

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

I wonder how much the NASCAR organization pushed for this in hopes of attracting another, and younger market.

Yeah NASCAR is tanking bad in the last few years. They're going to look back at pulling out of the old south tracks as a really bad decision.
