aside from the obvious police thing.. I think it is.. isn't it?
I thought you had to be a police officer to buy bulletproof vests etc

I know it is *possible* to buy it without being a cop, but that's either breaking the law or side stepping it... At least it used to be.

At the machine gun shows a # of booths will sell vests and armor but generally it's old police stuff that's been retired

You gotta give the second guy some credit for having the balls to at least attempt to get his buddy out. As said before wearing body armor probably didn't help in the credibility department though If I were the second guy I would've just left his dumbass in jail

Unlawful use of body armor?!

Is that just from POLICE being on it? Or is body armor illegal?

Now I am curious.

I think you're reading more into the story than there really is:
http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2...cago-cops.html

"It was not clear if the men were together, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. "

It appears to be just a coincidence that these two were arrested in such proximity of time and location.

I think they probably would have been alright were it not for the flagging down of a "fellow" officer whilst holstering a weapon.

Dumb and dumber?

At lunch so this was just a quick search. http://www.ehow.com/i/#article_5450071. A start anyway.

I know most places that sold them used to require buyers to be active military or police in order to purchase. Maybe they were just covering their asses. Not something I look for often, but the requirement caught my eye years ago
