Hulu Plus Dropped its price!

Down to 7.99 a month.

Streams to your apple products, PS3, computer. Difference from normal hulu is that instead of only seeing the last five trailing episodes you get to see all the seasons. I have had it since the beta and I am VERY pleased with it.

There is now also a free trial period of a week, and if you use my referral link you can get two weeks free if you keep it.

http://hulu.com/r/bME9Sg

(and you also hook me up with 2 weeks )

Enjoy!

VUDU coming to the PS3 too. If they could better support streaming of local files the PS3 would rule the roost.

you directly streamed an mkv file? what video and audio codecs does it support in the mkv container? you're not using playon or some other intermediary?

Nah just PS3 Media server so the PS3 can find the media.

I have other 4, 8 10 gbs I have used too if you need me to check any info.

Its impressive because playon would have to be on a BEEFY pc to have to rescramble a huge file like that to send to an extender.

I just looked it up. Support on the PS3 is still shitty and running a third party media server to remux your files on the fly is the work around. Lame. Like I said, if Sony could get their act together the PS3 would rule the roost.

Meh, not really. have you seen the quality of the transcoding? I have never had an issue or complaint of quality. I dont question that direct files always better. I just will do my give and take to get the best performance and investment.

How is this the best performance and investment if the files have to be transcoded by a separate computer in order for it to work? Kind of a steep investment when a $100 WDTV could do it on it's own with no other parts or help or $$$.

99.998% of posters on this site use a computer/mac.

you said file streaming. meaning that you said a separate device has your media stored on it

so the computer is already taken care of.

100 = wdtv
100$ = blu ray player
100$ = Ps2 (lol)
=300 = same price as PS3 but more bang for the buck.

better investment since eventually that WDtvs capabilities will hit a wall. The PS3 has the power to prepare for the next.

Steaming doesnt mean the information is stored on a PC. Could be on an external drive, usb stick, NAS, etc. I'm not saying the PS3 is a bad deal, I'm saying its a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Ah, Quite true.

The only thing honestly could come close is a big built PC.

But is there a media streamer that really can be called a master of all trades? etc.

I just see the ps3 getting closer to being one one eyed man in the land of the blind.

There is no master out there. Thus I have a streamer, and a BD player, and an xbox360 and I have the best of ALL worlds.
