Camcorder help!?

Can anyone give me some feedback or recommendations on a HD (Or good quality) camcorder with todays sales that may not break $300?

Keep in mind I know NOTHING about what to look for when it comes to camcorders, and I know theres flash and removable memory vs hard drive and I just can't seem to understand the differences between some of these 200-300 dollar devices and the 800-900+ devices??? I want to buy one for christmas present for someone but I don't wanna ignorantly buy some piece of shit.

Any help would be AWESOME!

Tom

I like the kodak digital video cameras. My mom has one. Some of them are even waterproof.

I have a mini DVD and flash card camcorder which I really like.

The problem with the cameras with internal memory is how do you transfer the videos? camera hooked up to the tv and burn it via dvd or vhs?

Or hooking the camera up to a computer and saving it.

Pretty sure it would just be getting saved onto the computer.

I would find one that has an internal memory plus allows you to use those flash cards.

Buy an extra battery or get a battery with a longer recording time. You can have a flash card with 3 hour time and only 1 hour battery.

also look at how much memory HD recording takes. 4 hours of SP recording can be 30 minutes of HD recording.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I have an internal harddrive plus sd card just in case. Works great for my use. Comes with the software for auto download. I transfer everything to DVD and CD.

Mine (panasonic tm700k) has 32GB flash mem and takes SD cards (use a class 6 or better and you can record straight to the card as well)... Out of your price range, but an awesome kick ass camera.

Everyone Exaggerates

We're being taken for a ride... agaaaaaaain.....
