What Products Are You Buying Next Year????

What products are you looking at purchasing for your bike in the next year???

As a business owner, you're always struggling with stocking what items to keep in stock that you can sell on a regular basis and what to order on an as-needed basis. Since the motorcycle industry is still in shambles and shop owners are having to pay upfront for basically all of the product they have on their showroom floor...this becomes really imperative in getting it right.

Over the last year, I feel I've done a pretty good job of stocking what I sell.....please correct me if I'm wrong. You guys on CLSB are always great at giving feedback and this is a huge issue for most shops right now struggling with thin margins......so you're feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I'm also worried that most people are holding on to their bikes and have already purchased a lot of what they want on their bike other than wear/tear items. Therefore, I'm also curious if this is correct or if people are still opening up their wallets.

So let it fly....what are you guys spending your money on if anything at all.

Also, please list for what type of bike.

I know....try paying for that RS Taichi stuff to keep in inventory

I'm really, really happy with it. For the extra $125 for a phenomenal jacket it's a really good investment considering the quality/fit and what you get for something that you wear all the time.

Hard explaining that to guys over the cheap crap that's available.

for me on tires:
its will be a more track/race oriented compound like the power ones moving up from the power pures, i might stay with those though
i do not need a streetable tire anymore for this bike

as for why that brand, its available trackside at good prices for me

That was at the old shop on Oakton...it was usually that clean though when I had employees. When you're a one man show wrenching, talking to customers, phone calls, accountant and head bitch sweeper working 14 hrs. a day it doesn't look as pretty all the time.

Bike Nights were good for making me clean 1/2 a day

That was my dream shop....but it completely sucked righting the check every month for it and dealing with Cook County!

Kevin, with the move are you thinking about a functional web portal to order stuff, or just gonna stick to phone orders for us northerners?

I've been riding Michelin Pilot Powers and really the only reason why is because of the price. I'm going to buy one more PP rear (because I'll still have some life left on my front), but then I'm going to be trying out the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa.

Yes I'm going to start working and updating the website next week and get everything on there since I'm sitting on my arse right now.

I'll focus on the website and still do service work on the side. Pricing will be basically the same as all the other internet guys. I'm not going to try and sell everything under the sun....just key products.

The nice thing is regular ground shipping is next day from Louisville and no sales tax for you guys.......45 and sunny today

We've ridden on everything and I think the Pirellis are the best thing out there right now...especially for trackday guys.

I switched a lot of people from Michelin last year to Pirelli and everybody loved the tires...they've have even better new and improved stuff out for next year.

Had a bad experience with Pirellis. They wore out way too fast in the middle (threads showing just a tick over 3000 miles) and I didn't like the neutral profile. Turn in on brand new pointy Michelins are perfect for me.

Kevin,

What are the chances of you talking to Kobe and becoming a distributer/vendor? I am a huge fan of Kobe gloves, in my opinion they match up with any of the premium guys for a lot less cash. I have to go to 1888fastlap.com (marietta motorsports) to get Kobe stuff. I'd rather buy it from you.

I know that not that many people have even heard of Kobe, but next time your in Chicago give me a call, I'll show you my old gloves that I've crashed to hell and are still in great shape, and I just got another set for backup.

I can carry anything really...I can always look at other apparrel stuff. Just need to research it a little. I know of Kobe...they've been around for awhile and I know Huey who owns Marrietta Motorsports now.

He used to work for me one year on the race team with Opie...
