Describe your style

Well I got a new job where the dress code is business casual. So I went out and bought a lot of new clothes. I was always a jeans and t-shirt guy, but since buying these clothes, I've been wearing button downs and khakis on a regular basis and think it may become my new style. I'm even wearing a sweater vest right now with my button down shirt. What do you normally wear at work and in a casual environment (at home, going out with friends, etc...)?

Uh... sounds like you're growing up!
I wear either yoga pants and a tank to work, or scrubs.

People mostly see me right after work, so they see me in yoga pants and adidas a lot. I guess I'd be Sporty Spice, with the occasional bout of Posh Spice thrown in when the mood for 5inch heels and backless dress strikes.

That's exactly it. I'm 26 and it's time I stop trying to look like a fratboy and more like someone who's trying to go places in life.

I am a polo shirt guy, always been, I hate button down/creased dress slacks types!

at CDW if you work in IT infrastructure, you have an excuse that when you need to go to datacenter working in the racks, they let you wear jeans if your shirt has a CDW logo, so I loaded at Land End on polo-shirts with embroidered logos and wear jeans all the time

Whatever I wear I am sure to incorporate an all black tie. Not some patterned or worn out piece of shit, I'm talking an all black tie.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

At my previous job when I did solely engineering I dressed all GQ, the dry cleaners loved me as did the sales people who made commission from my clothes when I went shopping.
Current job that I have had for the last 5 yrs is totally different. Jeans, gym shoes or boots and a t-shirt or polo. Still do engineering but also manage a 70k ft building, never know when you may have to go up on the roof of the building or get dirty. Still get to dress up once a year for work for CES in Vegas.

My work is business dress. Slacks and a Oxford fitted button down shirt, which sucks because as soon as I step foot in the lab, i have oil on me. Fridays are jeans day, which means I get to wear a nice pair of jeans.......... and an Oxford button down shirt.

My company let business casual get away from them a few years ago. Most everyone was wearing jeans, polos, and in summer T-shirts. That stopped when the President walked the board through the lab one day. It doesn't matter how proffessional or intelligent someone is, when they're dressed like a hippie.

My home dress is typically jeans and leftover shirts from work. T-shirts when its warm, or button down short sleeve shirts. Once you get comfortable with something at work..... you tend to start wearing it at home since you have old or spare clothes.

Biggest thing I had to get used to......... when you sit down in fitted slacks, they bunch up and look like you have a massive woodie. That and if you accidently bump the bathroom or kitchen sink, you look like you've pissed your pants for the next hour until it dries.

The older I get, the less I dress to either extreme (sloppy sweats or glitzy partywear). And the more I find myself paying extra attention to the little details... shirts crisply ironed... pants pressed... not just rolling up a sleeve to conceal a missing button - or going into the office with dripping wet hair (I think that was the last thing to go).

Let's face it - we DO judge the book by it's cover - especially in a professional environment. When you walk into a meeting looking like you've just rolled out of bed (or in from the beach), people will be more focused on your appearance than what you have to say.

Weekends are jeans and a sweater/sweatshirt/button-down shirt/tank top combination... Dockers or dress pants and a nice blouse for the occasional evening out.

For the last 10 years, work was "biz casual" - Dockers and sweater/button-down shirt/blazer/twinset with conservative (no more than 3" heel) shoes. Friday was for blue jeans but the rest was pretty much the same. Saved the pantsuit/silk blouse combo for when the BOD was in town. It's nice to not have to pull out the "big guns" every day. I'm also of a generation that didn't do the 'bare legs' thing at work. If I'm wearing a skirt, I'm also wearing nylons.

Sorry fellas but these mechanical engineers that wear ties and don't know which end is up when it comes to being mechanical.
Keep wearing your ties and when you really need something mechanical done give one of us dirty fellas a call.

During work its usually playing suit and tie or business casual.

Everyday wear depends. It goes from some button down shirts, or tshirt and jeans.
