Company Christmas Parties

Does your company have one or more? Is it any good? During business hours or a fency event afterwork?

Our company has too many of them and some seem to be pretty good, but bottom feeders like myself are not allowed. Our department has one that sucks, it is during lunch time, but basically the whole day is focused around food. I am already in a food coma, this will be a very long day.

We used to have nice ones for our group at the Foundry. The down turn and reorg killed that, now we have a potluck during work hours and everyone goes out after wards for the fun adult beverages.

Company caters in food for a luncheon. Pretty lame. We usually grab food, eat, then leave around 2 or 3 to head to the bar. Company Amex usually picks up the first few rounds.

My company has grown so damn fast that the party changes leaps and bounds every year, but it's typically a catered buffet at a nice venue, and we each get 2 drink tickets and can bring a date/spouse. There are also usually casino type games, a band, and good door prizes.

The mothership in DC does theirs at the Air and Space Museum and it's all open bar. CLearly they get the best party. This year we had the new JW Marriott, but I skipped it. Sicne I office in 2 locations I was invited two both parties; I'm going to the one at the Houston Aquarium in January. Should be cool, I think.

Anything. My boss loves it when Jeff gets drunk and stupid.
Convince your SO that anything crazy you do only makes her look BETTER....being a smart and effective employee and having a wacky fun boyfriend at home? Well that's the modern definition of a renaissance woman!

We used to.

This year we had a "company meeting" where they had beer & finger food, at the end of the day. Then there was an unofficial party @ Howl at the Moon afterwards.

And I didn't bother.

Yeah anything goes. Puke on the boss, bang the hottest chick there, whatever. It's a Christmas party, these things are expected. You don't want to be looked at as a stick in the mud.

This.

It is your duty, no, it's your responsibility to get shit-faced and be the life of the party. If you leave at the end of the night and can find your pants, you've failed.

Just 2 yrs ago we would take a half day and have a company lunch at a local Italian place. Employees only but would include all temp employees too. Good meal and you buy your own booze.
Now very little is done. Are getting a couple trays of pasta and stuff and just having a lunch here and have to work afterwards. Was like pulling teeth to have this and it is only like $300.
