Chuck take a look at this!

I know we have been talking about this for over a year. Finally a real world person that I know has done it. Man I would love to do this in 2011.

I'm right there with you Steve! thanks for the link, I'll have to read through it over the Holidays. I've been searching far and wide for a used Tundra (TRD Limited , four door, black) with this mod already done but no luck so far.

Yeah but its a Ford. You can put 2 of them on a Lightning and I still wouldn't drive one. No offense to Ford owners but I don't like them and never have (Lightnings)

You want torque not HP with a truck. Plus, tundra has major rust issues with their frame, and poor frame design to handle any load or rough terrain.

As Tim the toolman taylor would say, needs more power.

guy should get a real truck to tow big trailers. there is more to it then having a big motor. Just like the guy said in his post, he doesn't want to spend 50,000 for a real american made truck that can handle pulling a trailer.

ill put a subaru motor in my 1970 vw bug and pull a 5th wheel trailer.

You want me to post up 20 different videos of the cheap engineering that Toyota did on a truck. Hence the 30,000 dollar difference between a commuter truck and a real towing truck.

whats better? An engine that doesn't have enough metal or an engine that has enough metal that it will not warp or twist a crankshaft from too much torque. hmm I'll take a heavier motor that has more metal support

oh wait, your suppose to get that from a toyota commercial

Do you own a truck TDS?

BTW the supercharger is a item that can be and will be installed by the dealer (when I get one) and the truck WILL BE covered under warranty after its installed

Its pretty sad, considering where Ford is now, that people still say american cars and trucks are junk.

You should go watch the videos on the new ecoboost engine in the F150.

http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/expe...9m2n0p20101214

And while that aftermarket supercharger and tune is nice, Im sure it does not have the reliability and driveability of a factory installed supercharger like on the lightning. No 'tuner' shop can match the data that the manufacturers have.

He also states that he GVW'd around 13,900lbs, which is about twice what its rated for. Im sure its a handful to drive. The brakes and suspension arent up to that task.

I don't need to own chinese tools to know american made tools are better.

I don't need to own a corvette to know it is a better car than a ford taurus

True he is over loading himself but I am sure it can handle my 6X12 V nose just fine and thats all Im looking for. Also I don't want a 60K Ford 250 as a daily driver so comparing the 2 like TDS is, is like comparing apples to oranges

there is no comparing apples to oranges.

did you miss what downforce said in his last "post paragraph"
"twice what its rated for"

basically, he is endangering everyones lives because his vehicle isn't designed for such a tow.

So when his brakes fade because they overheated from pulling an overweight trailer, and slams into a biker at a stoplight, is he an idiot then?

Did you miss what I said??? I am not towing a 31 foot trailer. I am not using this truck to haul large loads across the country. This is a daily driver that I will use to pull a 6X12 trailer.

the other funny thing, They say in that toyota engine block commerical, lighter engine = more towing, but in fact the F150's towing is 3200lbs more than the Tundra. I think most of the engines in the newer trucks are going to aluminum blocks, or at least aluminum heads.

TDS sort of has a valid argument on the bolts also. look at the difference in those leaf spring bolts. wow. Thats not exactly a good place to save weight. lol.

I know you arent pulling huge trailers Steve, but Id rather have GVW's in reserve. Look at last Jennings trip. That Ram I drove didnt exactly have a hard time in spots, but it still got 8mpg's and we tore up alot of trailer tires because the trailer was overloaded.

Pretty much any way you look at it, a 1/4 ton truck isn't made for towing big numbers. I think the F150 is trying to change that. Ive been considering a new truck for a month or two now, but the more Ive thought about it, I lean towards a new 5.0 Mustang and keep my S10 for work and the handful of trackdays that I do. I couldnt see buying from any company other than Ford at this point in time. Toyota has had recall after recall, as of late.

I would rather have a turbo versus supercharger. Turbo = free power and supercharger takes HP to make it.
