I have a Nitro TMaxx3.3 and a Revo3.3. I guess there's a pretty sweet track in Cedar Lake or Lowell, IN that Ive been meaning to check out.

Is there any indoor tracks that run nitro trucks?

Have been in the hobby 3 times for a couple years at a time. Funny how as you get older you spend more and more. Latest venture was 1/10 touring car. For sure it is fun but track days have forced me to choose one money pit.
Have sold most of my RC stuff but still have a few things left, lipo chargers, tires/wheels and a pit bag. If anyone is interested PM me, I am about 10 mins from O'hare if anyone want to take a look.

The track by the Autobahn is the Leisure Hours track.

Here is a link: http://www.leisurehoursraceway.com/

Its a very nice track with racing/practice almost every night of the week. Indoor in the winter and outdoor in the summer. I usually make it out at least 8 or so times per year.

Some tips if you plan on going:

Get 2.4 GHz radio equipment. It's not so bad anymore but back before 2.4 G existed it sucked waiting for a frequency tag.

Bring ear plugs. Its not so bad for a short period with a couple trucks but when you have a lot of trucks and do corner marshaling after your driving stint (proper etiquette) it gets really noisy.

Bring a set of mechanics gloves. Use them when you corner marshal and it will save your fingers from cuts and burns.

Bring safety glasses. Again, when you are corner marshaling there can be some flying dirt and debris.

Do your part corner marshaling. Some guys think they are above that and won't do it which is complete bull shit. I like corner marshaling simply because I get to see, at track level, what some of the lines are that other maybe more experienced drivers are taking. Be observant when you are out there. These trucks gain incredible speeds and often times are flying through the air. You don't want to get hit by an out of control 15 lbs truck going 40 or 50 MPH.

Your Losi is a great monster truck. Great for bashing. Be patient and take your time at the track. If you are holding up a group of fast guys stay your line and they will pass you. Just keep at it. Practice will really improve your skills. Driving from a driver's deck is a completely different perspective than driving at ground level and takes a bit to get used to. Every time you go out you'll see improvement in your skill and technique. I used to always crash on triples but now I can usually always clear them with a little in air attitude adjustment.

Don't get hung up on set up right away. Look up some race set ups on line and set your truck up that way. Otherwise just go drive!!!

If there is one thing on your truck that you could change it should be the tires. With your MT tires on it will be like an ice skating rink for you on clay. Go to a hobby shop and pick up a good set of clay tires. Something like these: http://nitrocountryrc.com/panther-mo...y-pr-1036.html. Get something fairly soft. This will improve your experience A LOT!!. I ran my Losi 8ight-T with the stock Losi tires for one night and was really frustrated as it seems folks with slower trucks would smoke me coming into and out of corners. It was because my tires were slipping/spinning. Once I put a proper set of tires on it really improved the truck a lot. Plan on about $100 for rims and tires. Generally you'll need to buy rims separate from tires and mount them up yourself.

Re: Nitro truck

I used to be heavily into rc cars. I got so into it I was racing the pro series. Been to dozens of tracks around this state, in, stl. What a money pit for sure but damn those were some badass times. Full weekends of just racing. I had the revo first day it was available to the public. Upgraded it to the extended chassis before it was even an idea to most. I still debate about getting another one but racing wise its pretty dead.

Racing RC is far from dead.

http://www.leisurehoursraceway.com/

They have one of the best setups I've ever seen. Two outdoor tracks, one dirt and one asphalt. Full indoor track.

Last time I was there the place was packed.

I just mess around with my stuff but if you're into RC car racing that place above would be the place to go around the chicago area.

Re: Nitro truck

Compared to when I was really into the hobby, its dead now iin comparison. I remember when there would be hundreds of people shown up to race. It was like 3 hours inbetween your 15 minute qualifying rounds. The few people I talk to that still race at leisure say its really slow compared to what it used to be. And believe me I know the history of leisure. I was in there helping bernie build the place.
