PC issue...little help please

So, I've been having issues with firefox redirecting everytime I click a link from a google/yahoo search. After a little research it was suggested I remove firefox after installing another browser and then reinstall it. I did install a new browser and I then went to uninstall FF. Upon opening the remove programs section the computer will not formulate the list of programs on my PC. Did the whole reboot thing etc, but still no list of programs for anything. Can someone tell me what's up and how to resolve?

1. Will Firefox let you install on top of the current install?

if not option 2 might be a work around.

2. This link below works sometimes on cleaning up with Add/remote programs on windows. I know it says for office but usually with some luck it works on other installed apps. Please read carefully.

Not sure about the remove program problem, but the symptoms you describe are probably related to you being infected by the "Google Redirect Virus". Google this term and you will find plenty of web advice on how to get rid of it.

Good Luck.

I was getting that too for a while. I installed ad-aware and it took care of it.

I don't ride, I cook!

So you have no listings of software in your add/remove programs window? You can't uninstall ANYTHING?

If so, it's likely a virus as already suggested here. If you can, disconnect this machine from the internet and use another for what I'm suggesting below.

Get yourself a copy of malwarebytes anti-malware. It's free. Install it on the infected machine, disconnect the machine from the web and let it run. Have it clean what it finds. Also, get yourself a copy of ccleaner (free as well). Run it and have it analyze your registry. Tell it to fix the issues that it finds.

If that doesn't work (or you can't install malwarebytes, etc), reply here and I'll give you a few other ideas.
