I take that route daily and for the first time I saw a state trooper sitting just before the I80 merge on I355 today. So, for at least a short time I would watch your speed though there because I think they are trying to make a point of enforcing the new limit while it's fresh in their minds.

Do 67 12 mph more than allowed last week... call it a win.

If you have a 30 mile commute, guess how much time you save by driving 75 mph vs. 65 mph?

3.6 minutes

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Not my point, but the general rule of thumb is every mph over 55 mph, your fuel economy drops by one percent. I was just pointing out that increasing the speed limit saves you a relatively minuscule amount of time.

It is unbelievable to me that the speed limit there was ever 55. The design speed for that highway was/is 70 mph. When you design a highway for 70, it *feels* like you should be going 70. It was a money maker from day 1.

The dumb part is that stretch of highway is only 12 miles long, so the time savings is even less. The entire rest of 355 from I-90 on down south should be 65 anyways.

Since some of you don't care how long it takes you to get somewhere why not make the speed limit 45 all the way down. Safer, better fuel mileage, less wear on your car and the road. It's all wins that way right?

Personally, I'll take the increase and be happy about it.

Right on Troy. The stress level alone was a PITA driving down that road with the 55 limit.

Over a 35 year career, both ways on that commute, that's roughly 65,000 minutes saved.

Personally, I am a huge fan of graduated lane speed limits. For example, I would love to see minimum speed limits for each lane. min 45 for the right, min 65 for the middle, and min 75 for the left.

And seeing as I travel at roughly 95 mph, I save a few years of my life.

A long time ago when I was a young law breaking douchebag and had traffic court every week, they said the same thing about speeding and it really didn't help you by doing it. I raised my hand, and pointed out how they kicked somebody out for being 1 minute late to class, and that if he had been doing just 5 more miles per hour he wouldn't have to repeat driving school.

lol or in general the dotted line is about 35 mph faster than traffic, especially if you are coming back from Edwards Apple Orchard with a terrified fiance on the back. Did she ever talk to again after that?
