You know I smoke. I hated when they passed that shit.

Now, I still smoke and I don't want them to change nothing. Keep the ban.

filled it out for you, i don't think smoking should be allowed in restaurants but in a bar/pub or casino i really don't care.

Whatever this state has to do to lower my taxes I am all for.

I bet they don't take into account that a lot of us from indiana close to the boarder choose to go to illinois bars/restaurants quite frequently due to there being a no smoking policy.

There are certainly no questions that try to take that into account and a lot of questions that ask my opinion when in reality my opinion doesnt mean shit when compared to facts and what a doctor would say.

2 hours later, someone else somewhere else can not tell that you encountered someone with bad breath, someone who farted, was fugly or dressed poorly...

That being said, I think it should have been left up to each establishment to determine whether they allow it or not... People have a choice to work there or somewhere else as do the customers - they can either patronize the place of business and support its decisions or not.

Bullshit!

I still haven't lived down my last "fugly" encounter from my friends. It's not my fault for being black out drunk, it's her fault for being ugly

EDIT: I accidentally a word.

Government shouldnt tell us how to live our lives. Leave these stupid decisions up to the business owner's.

Im all for a non-smoking environment, but state or federal govt have much bigger worries than to try to enforce this ban.

^----all of this!! It's a joke WTF this country has been turning into! This state has taken too much advantage of us. Let alone this god damn state. Raising gas taxes, raising cig taxes, and banning people from places to FORCE us outside?! Its a Fucking joke. It's called segregation. And should be illegal to make us go out side. And yea it effects the I come of company's because we only spend a few hours at places now because we have leave and decide to go to homes instead where we can do what we want inside in comfort.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

that's the worst thing ever having to go home and wash all my clothes and myself because I smell like smoke, also I can't remember how many times I got burned by assholes who were holding their cigarettes down at their sides with no regard for anyone else.

going home with cigarette burns on my legs because I bumped into someone = not fun

Keep the ban, when I go out with the family to a restaurant I don't want myself or my kids to smell like an ashtray. When the wife and I go out, its great going to a bar and not having to smell all that smoke. It one of the only things I like that Illinois has done.

The questions on the survey are very well thought out. It is not all or nothing, for example there is a question about establishments being able to buy a smoking permit/license. I get the reason why people are for the ban, but it comes down to basic rights of business owners. I am sure most places would not bring back smoking to their establishments, but there a good number who know their customers and would pay for the license or permit to allow smoking. Doesn't that make sense? Nobody would force people to go to places where smoking is allowed.

BTW...I quit buying cigarettes in September.

Greg

We were just in Florida and they have a indoor smoking ban, unless you are a stand alone bar, and don't serve food. You can't be in a strip mall, or have any other establishment connected to you. It seems to work there, the smokers have their bars, and the non-smokers have theirs too.

only smoke cigars. in restaurants, keep the ban. as for bars, while i like not coming home smelling like an ashtray, it doesn't bother me. that or if most don't want smokers doing so in bars, create another section that's closed in so people can smoke during cold or shit weather

Keep the ban. Not for us as customers but for the staff and employees.

I am as conservative as they come but you need to protect the workers at these establishments.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

....Abraham Lincoln

Agreed. My business partner smokes probably a cigarette every 10 mins and so do his friends. When I go to his place and watch a game for 2 hrs I come home smelling like sh*t. Smokers don't get how bad it is to non smokers.

Dude.... there's always time for lube.

Your right to smoke only extends as far as my right not to inhale your second hand smoke. While an employee is not "forced" to work in a smoking establishment, if all business have smokers, they can't "choose" NOT to work in one. So the ban needs to be in place to protect the workers right, not to inhale second hand smoke.

I'm all for the ban. As mentioned above I like not smelling like cigaretts when I come home from the bar. Plus studies have shown that patronism has actually increased since the ban. Why well people who smoke when they go out and drink or people who smoke period aren't going to stop those actions because of a ban. Hell, look outside a bar when it's 20 below. It doesn't slow them down. However, people who normally wouldn't go to a bar, because it allowed smoking, are now going to bars because they do not have to worry about the smoke.

But as long as it's for a school project I will help out.

You wanna see my itinerary?
