Parents still alive?

Deep thread I suppose but fairly simple. Are your parents still alive and if so, do you still talk/see each other?

If not, do you miss them or at least one of them being part of your life?

Anything you wish you had done differently?

I'm super close to my mom, and my step-dad is like a father to me most of the time. My bio-logical father died when I was 12, I don't remember much about him, he was sick all the time and spent a good part of my childhood in the hospital. He did nuclear testing in the military and had multiple cancers, all of them terminal. I wish I could have had more time with him, but I'm glad he doesn't suffer anymore.

I don't ride, I cook!

Dad was killed in an auto accident back in '87.

I see my mother regularly, but I wouldn't say we're close. The time I spend with her, is more out of "duty." She's pretty damn batshit crazy but as much as I cannot stand her, I cannot abandon her either.

My mom is still around and I talk to her and we hang out quite regularly. My parents would have been married 30 years back in 01 when my dad was hit and killed on his motorcycle. April 27th he will be gone 10 years. I miss him very dearly.

That's too bad. Life is too short for that kind of attitude and that crap. Sorry man, I don't know your situation but that really sucks. People don't realize how lucky they really are until someone is gone. When I see people my age at the race track with their father it makes me almost want to cry because I know my old man would be right there with me. Shit, he is the one that told me to go road racing when he saw me at Road America with my jaw on the ground the first time we went there together. I had never seen a road racing bike nor ever saw motorcycle leaned over and racing. The next year he was gone and guess what, I still went road racing despite my families wishes. It took me several years to convince them I'm taking the right precautions and it's what I truely love. Thanks dad! I miss you.

Dad and I see each other on holidays, we dont have much in common and he doesn't come around much. wish it was different

Mom and I didn't talk for a lot of years after a fight, but we worked that out, unfortunately she lives out of state so I see her about once a year.

Wifes dad lives on the other side of the state so we only see him once and a while.

Wifes mom, I dearly miss, she was a great woman, passed away a few years ago.

The one I feel sorry for is my daughter, she will never know what it's like to have grandparents around to spoil her.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

You know what really fucking sucks?! I was just starting to get know my old man at the adult level. He was just starting to let go a bit of the whole father / mentoring thing. He was tough on me but very caring in the same breath. He was pretty miserable in his job he had right before he bit the dust. He was working nights and i rarely got to see him. Hind sight is 20 /20 but I wish I spent a little more time listening to what he had say and what he had to teach me. He tried to drill so much good stuff in my head but my teenage punk ass wouldn't listen. I really wish I could hear what he has to say now. The shit hurts pretty bad still even after 10 years.

I'll tell you what though. After all that happened some good friends stepped up. Gus being the front man. The hardheaded German he is put his arm around my head and has still never let go. I'm thankful for that. He's been a good mentor over the years.

Dad and I had a relationship as adults that pretty much made up for all the bullshit growing up. He'd moved down south... but I would call him every day on my way home from work and we'd talk the whole hour. Fuck, I miss him.

Both still alive, my mother is a wonderful lady and we talk almost every day, my father is unfortunately still alive and his picture is in the dictionary under the word "evil".

Mother-in-law and father-in-law are both alive and if "perfect parents" was defined in the dictionary, that's where you'd find them.

3 out of 4 ain't bad!
