I would like to get some opinions about websites / online stores that accept payments only using Pay Pal or Google Checkout?

In my opinion it is not the prettiest or the most professional approach, but I am starting to understand why it is done, lower cost. I am redoing my momís flowershop website and exploring various payment gateway options and they are quite expensive. Especially for businesses like ours that have a website that is not a primary means of doing business, but to convenience a small percentage of customers.

Iíd love to hear your opinions and suggestions for low cost payment gateway options.

Thanks

Greg

Price wins and both are very easy to integrate. You can have fun directly working with the banks themselves too (sarcastic emphasis on the word 'fun'). Just make sure to inform potential customers they always have the option of calling you directly to provide payment info if they don't have an account with either. You'd be surprised how many people 'forget' that's still doable.

Everyone Exaggerates

More and more companies are going the paypal route, or atleast offering it as an option, big companies too, so I don't think it really comes across as "unprofessional" as it used to.

by using paypal or google checkout you also remove any sort of PCI DSS compliance issues and you can ensure your customers that their credit card information is safe. You can't do that if you're managing the CC information yourself (unless you happen to be a PIC DSS expert)

In the words of Cousin Eddie from "Christmas Vacation" .........BINGO

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW, what a RIDE !!"
