Eyes in the Sky's in Lisle is one of the biggest get togethers for the ballooning community. I'd hit google and see if you can find some of the owners and see if they do rides for fees on the side.

On the flip-side, a basic hot air balloon sells on the used market for $5k-$6k. Not that I looked into it or anything.

These guys fly over my house all the time. I have done several flights, good times if your not afraid of heights.

A bonus of buying your own balloon is that you can give your chick a good plowing in it.

Fuck ballons - nothing like yards of Nylon over youre head and a giant bunson bruner fueling the thing staking your life on prevailing winds and no parachute to save your ass if it goes up or drifts you into some gazzilion volt power lines! Fawk that!

Buying it is the easy part. Finding the 15 people to work as your ground crew/chase team is the hard part. I have access to a balloon, and I soloed, but never got my rating because it was too hard to get the ground crew together.
