If your parents could see you now...

and could go back in time and abort, would they? Are you a success or failure to your parents?

The question is...can one ever real please their parents?

Haha...

I think they'd consider me a success. Well educated, in a great career, and strikingly handsome. Win win win.

Depends. After about 1995, they see me as a success. Before that, they thought I was a screwup. They would still be happier if I didn't scuba dive, ride motorcycles and had gotten married and had 2.5 kids....

I didn't change, just their perception of me.

I am not a parent but feel that unless you are serial killer or living in their house after 25 and sucking their wallets dry, you are a success in their eyes.

I truly believe that a portion of the American Dream is that your children will have an easier life than you had. The reality in today's dwindling middle class is that it is becoming harder and harder for that to be achieved.

My parents gave me all the tools (love, support, education, plenty of varied social interaction, proper manners, and a healthy dose of common sense) and with those gifts that I was given, I have done everything to become a respectable and contributing member of society.

I will admit that I have made mistakes in my life, and also, with the help and support of my parents I have been able to learn from those mistakes.

I know my parents are proud of me, they of course believe that I could do somethings better, but overall, I have achieved the happiness they hoped that I would.

I could care less. My dad lives 10 minutes from me, and won't return my calls. He is emberassed because he sold one of my rifles. I'm not my loser alcoholic cross dressing brother, so my mom favors him.

All I can do is love and be proud of my daughter. I can't change my parents and the past, but I can change the future with my daughter.

There's no greater pride for a parent then to see a kid surpass them in life. Both of my parents are very proud of who I am and how I am raising my kids and in turn I can say I am very proud of each of my 4 kids and the people they are and are becoming. At the end of the day, I really don't care too much about anything else.

I'd say my moms proud of me, and would not even think about changing..........plus who's going to bring her free Starbucks coffee for the house If she did, I hold the big bargaining chip

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

Of course they are they are your parents.

And of you answered "no" and are a parent yourself you know how important it is to do so. Don't make the same mistakes you think your parents did.

I don't call my parents anymore. I got tired of their expectations and decided to give up being their son. Since I don't call, I don't talk to them anymore. Kinda interesting, eh?

Yeah I'm kind of a riot. Just tell her the more failures you have as a child just adds to her failures as a parent. Let her think about that for a while.

If you asked my dad and mom 11 years ago they would say hes fucked up and they thought they would bury me. Now we are best friends, talk to my pops everyday, mom 3x a week and im the 1st and only in our family to graduate from college and am successful at my job and have surpassed what my dad did + i gave him 2 awesome grand boys! im pretty well blessed and i feel bad for some of the guys on here hearing what they are going through with their folks. Some shit i can take for granted so count your blessings.
