natural selection strikes again in naperville

email from wife

This really annoys me, especially if you read the comments below. The people in these neighborhoods want the city to spend huge $$$ to install a pedestrian bridge here. Seriously? Either watch your kids and walk with them across the street, or teach them how to cross the street at a busy intersection like that. You cant build a pedestrian bridge for every stupid idiot on every big street. PARENT YOUR KIDS!! I don’t care if they are 13 years old, since the majority are obviously not responsible enough to cross the street by themselves.

Girl hit by vehicle near 75th and Olympus in Naperville

BY BILL BIRD [email protected] Jun 9, 2011 08:52AM

A teenage girl was hospitalized Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle at a Naperville intersection where two other girls were killed by cars within an eight-year period.

Naperville police reports remained incomplete Wednesday night, but Cmdr. Ray Adkins said the 13-year-old girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle near 75th Street and Olympus Drive in the central part of the city.

The incident occurred about 7:20 p.m. after the girl and an unidentified companion “walked into traffic” there, Adkins said. The injured girl “stepped in front of a vehicle” and was struck by it, Adkins said.

Naperville Fire Department paramedics took the girl to the emergency room of Edward Hospital in Naperville. Adkins said she suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver of the vehicle was not ticketed, Adkins said.

Lincoln Junior High School is located at the intersection’s southeast corner. It serves students living both north and south of 75th Street.

A girl was struck and killed at the intersection on Halloween night in 1993 while she was out trick-or-treating. A 14-year-old girl was killed there on Nov. 10, 2001.

Police that year said both girls were hit by vehicles while trying to cross 75th Street against the traffic lights located there.

There are two eastbound and two westbound lanes of traffic at the intersection, along with two left turning bays.

I witnessed this happen and was shocked at how 2 young girls thought they could "beat" the cars. This was upsetting to all the people around, other drivers around and witnesses and yet the this was totally unavoidable. Iif only the 2 - 13 year old girls had waited until the light changed. Young kids that think they can make their own rules. 2 deaths there already and still kids do stupid things? Makes no sense to me!

Like pjh, I also witnessed this and was shocked to see them dart out right in front of two cars. I'm truly amazed that the first girl made it across and the "minimal" injuries the girl that was struck sustained. From my perspective I thought they were both going to be hit...God was with them. The poor driver that hit her did some fantastic driving to minimize impact; a second delay in reaction and things would have been MUCH worse. I know I lost some sleep last night, I can only imagine what was going through his head. I hope he can move past the vision and sounds from the incident.

I hope the girl that was struck has a speedy recovery. If anyone can provide her status it would be appreciated. Thank you to al

do I seem harsh with the title? I think not, thats around the block from where I grew up. right down the street from where I am I have kids walking slow into the middle of the street intentionally to piss off traffic.

F the no females allowed to cross the street without a male companion, they can't be hit crossing traffic if they're in the kitchen where they belong.

EDIT: Dammit Suh-C beat me!

Naperville mom's are straight up psychos when it comes to this stuff. I remember about a year ago, some kid got hit outside the school on naper rd between Ogden and Diehl. A whole gang of moms were out there for a week shaking slow signs, yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs at cars as they came through that area. They would come right into the street and take swings with the slow signs at cars that seemed to be speeding through there. Crazy bitches man.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Not too harsh at all with the title, I see it all the time with these dumb ass kids darting out into traffic. Notice it says each time someone got hit there they were crossing "against the traffic lights". It's their own fault for being morons.

I almost ran some kid down in dt naper on my bike he decided to jump into the street on his skateboard after he looked right at me and saw me coming and then stopped dead in the middle of the street like a friggin deer right in my path. Luckily I'm more maneuverable than a car and could go around him but really?? You looked right at me saw me coming and went out into the street anyways? you deserve to be hit maybe you'll learn something.

Next time, smack him upside the head when you pass him.

Then again, he'd probably brag to his friends about how a girl on a motorcycle couldn't keep her hands off him!

yuppie liberal naperville parents

women busy getting starbucks, hair done, spending their husbands money, gossiping how the people that live in downers grove are dirt poor. Then find out they are late in picking their kids up from school, so they run you over with their SUV while driving 20mph over the speed limit. When the kid decideds mom is late and crosses the street.

Well we r talking about moms living in Naperville with kids that are unsupervised. So that should never come to a surprise to any of u here. Lmao

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

I think they should fuck more. A lot more. As much as they want. The longer they're fucking, the longer they're off the roads and safer for pedestrians. Then ticket and fine them if they don't pull out. That will plug the budget deficit too. Solves two problems at once.
