all is well, I think it was some gas splashed out from the refill onto some really dry grass clippings from today. I keep it pretty clean but the grass was really dry today and flying around alot and I think some got stuck near the carb and got wet on the refill then the hot motor started it on fire a few minutes later. I put it out, cleaned it well, and finished the yard without incident.

chalk it up to strange circumstances!

Wow.

I wonder if the grass was already slowly burning for the fuel to ignite when it showed up to the party. I've had some overspills on refills before but never an ignition even when capping it and starting it back up within 30 seconds. I'll keep an extra eye out for debris and clear it in the future...

Everyone Exaggerates

It certainly can. My last one is about to turn 12, and I finally have some more time on my hands... not that they are independent at that age, and then there's the whole teenage phase... ah shit, never mind... I'll be busy again.

I'm glad I tried your clippers, now I know they're too heavy for what I want to do. They work well but just cumbersome. I cleaned them, oiled them, gassed it up and will return it soon.
