My buddy had a vaio a few years ago, and he too will never buy another. I think they're nice, but know you're paying for the aesthetics, not the equipment.

Sony is just as bad as Apple when it comes to proprietary cables, connectors, memory cards, etc. It's like paying for an Apple but not actually getting the slicker, hipper Apple package. I would NEVER buy a Sony laptop/computer or digital camera or any of their products that utilized those connections.

IDK, I've carried two of these ultra-small Sony Viaos over the last 11 years, and I've been very happy with them. The first had an apple-compatible VGA port that required an adapter(Supplied) to connect to standard VGA, and the second (current one) has a standard VGA port. There are no slots that aren't industry standard on either, unless you call memory stick non-standard.

I've had excellent service from both machines. The first I used for more than 8 years before retiring it - it still works, but because it's limited to 512MB RAM, it's now too slow. The current one has been in service for 2.5 years, and is still more than adequate for a travel laptop. And the light weight can't be beat.

If you're gonna spend 2 grand, definitely go with Apple (for many reasons). What exactly are you trying to use this for, that a Mac won't do?

You better be nice to America or we will bring democracy to your country.

custom electronics.

my fish tanks have more hardware/software and redundancy than most jewelry stores that are not compatible with mac.

yes, its more complicated than that.

Sounding like a broken record reinforcing what I said before that it will not work.

For the same reason he wants to spent that kind of money for a laptop that will control a freakin fish tank

If I/we don't know what limitations are on the mac that prevent you from using it to control the tank, how da fuck would any of us know if the POS Vaio will? Unless you really dig the fact that to enjoy decent graphics on the vaio, you actually have to plug the external add-on, why not get a mini tower. Ya know, one that you actually can control the hardware to your liking.

If it has an apple logo it will not function with the hardware or software needed.

If it is a PC there is minimal chance it will have a problem.

It's not worth my time to explain that in details.

I am trying to see if there are any competitors to what I posted that are viable options.

Saw the Samsung Series 9 laptops at the Windows store, they actually look pretty damn sweet. If I needed a laptop (have a stack of them at work) I'd get that one. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-NP900X...0844100&sr=8-1

Its comp lete replacement. Presentations, programming, graphics video, web design, porn. But since its heavy presentation its gotta be sexy and unique. Lightweight was perk considering it would go mobile a few times a day.
