What to offer....

So, I'm a little stuck here.

I've been watching a bike on Ebay for the last week, and I'm waiting to make an offer on it until the last day. Hopefully no one else finds it and buys it before I do, because that would just be so upsetting. Anyway, I'm having trouble figuring out what to offer for the bike.

It's a 1985 650cc bike, and Kelley Blue Book says that it's worth $1360. It has 26,000 miles on it and the seller has added saddlebags, as well as a windshield and highway foot pegs. It hasn't been crashed, and it only has time-tested scratches. I wager that it's probably worth about $1500-1600, but the seller is asking for $2,200.

What would be the best offer for this bike?

If you wager it is worth $1500, offer that much.

$1k tops. It's a nearly 30 year old bike that probably needs hours of routine maintenance.

It's a Honda Nighthawk CB650SC. The bike's in good maintenance, since the guy rides it frequently. It won't need any repairs in the immediate future.

You must have found the same CB650 I did after poking around. Really clean looking bike.
Is the seller one of those places that sells your stuff for you? If so I'd bet the owner has a minimum price they'd like, and the person selling it has a proffit margin they'd like to see. That being the case, the license plate and VIN are in plain view. A little homework might get you to the owner.
That said, if the tires, battery and other maint items are OK, then $1500 would be a fair price IMO.

Good Luck.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.

there are a lot of bikes ridden quite frequently that are in shit condition.

for instance, go ask chicago performance about a kawasaki he's working on.

It is worth what you are willing to pay - Everything happens for a reason, if your offer is accepted, well then bitchin - If not then there is another bike out there for you

The owner's cell phone number is in the listing, so I'm going to try calling him and see if I can bargain directly with him.
