Definatly not a place I would bring high value items, especially a bike. Just way to many people and easy to get lost in a crowd.

Spent the last 3 days there. My sister works for EMI Records and hooked my fiance and I up with Artist passes, got to go pretty much anywhere we wanted.

Saw Eminem, the Arctic Monkeys, and Foo Fighters from the sound booth. Got to hang out in the Green Room and waited out yesterday's big storm in there while eating steak and drinking beer. But got poured on during Foo Fighters and had to wade through all that mud to get out.

It was an awesome time, the bands were [email protected], but I'm friggin' tired... working from home today!

How was Eminem in concert? I wanted to go Saturday just to see him but couldn't justify spending $200+ on a single day pass from Craigslist.

Eminem was outstanding, he put in an amazing show... even a little better than Foo Fighers. Dude has so much energy, he played all his hits, joked about drinking, good times. He said it was his first show since 2005, and the field was packed. If I didn't get to chill in the sound-booth I would have ended up way back at the edge of the field.

I still have a hard time trying to picture Eminem performing at an "alternative" show. Wouldn't that that be like Metallica performing at an Enya tribute concert?

Ice-T was never alternative.

Lollapalooza isn't "alternative" anymore, hasn't been for some time. There are lots of different types bands and they have quite a few DJs mixing. There's just no country and no Bieber.

+1 to J Cal. Dave Grohl put on a great show. I thought it was pretty funny at 9:46pm he said "we are just going to play until they kick us out!" Then two songs later they were done.

I was surprised they didn't do an encore. Eminem did.

That was pretty awesome. Then he proceeded to wail away on his guitar while the drummer went wild, those are some talented mofos.

Foo fighters killed it. Almost 2 and a half hours of rock. Even when it started to pour rain they just started playing harder. So many memorable moments they had and I'm sure I'll rewatch this concert a couple dozen times in the future.

Missed eminem but saw some songs on YouTube and he just had so much energy up there. Looked like it was a great show he put on.

the whole label "alternative" is pretty fucking stupid. Once what was alternative was small label shit you'd only hear on college radio, then in the 90s someone thought it made for good marketing and pop rock became labeled as alt-rock. It's just the same shit on the the radio, nothing alternative about it. The first year of Lollapolooza was pretty diverse. Buttholes, Siouxie and the Banshees, Nine Inch Nails, Bodycount, Rollins but the venue sucked and there was crap sound until NIN hit the stage.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Psychedelic rock band “Portugal. The Man” saw their trailer full of gear stolen after they played Lollapalooza Sunday night.

The band, who are based in Portland, Ore., but are from Wasilla, Alaska, had been playing at the festival when their trailer was stolen from an attended lot in Grant Park, according to a band tweet.

Missing is a Red Ford 15 passenger 350 van with a black trailer attached. It has Alaska license plates FJH244.

My buddy watched the guy ride off on his bike too. Said he got about 100' away from the guy, but when the guy saw him coming, blew a light and off he went.

I agree. To me "alternative" just seemed to be a cop-out label to use when they couldn't agree on what it really was. Otherwise, how else could you lump punk and industrial into the same show?

i look at it from an 80's perspective, if it wasn't mainstream it was alternative, ALT was never intended to describe any one style, just to indicate that it wasnt pop, or poop
