Bike accident in Streamwood 8/14/11

Just found out my gf's friends bf got in an accident in streamwood around 5(ish) pm.
I know he had a blue busa. He and a car hit and he is in intensive care. Not sure if anyone knows him, but all I know is his name is Joey Muir.
I don't know him personally, but I know he is a father so please pray he comes out ok.

Streamwood

Ruckus before motorcycle crash: A 26-year-old motorcycle rider was seen driving recklessly at very high speeds at various places in the village before his cycle crashed head-on into a car Sunday afternoon, Deputy Police Chief Jim Keegan said. The crash on Ridge Circle north of Woodland Heights Boulevard occurred about 2 p.m. Keegan said a police officer noticed the rider, Joseph Muir of Streamwood, driving recklessly in another part of town a few minutes earlier but, because of the danger of pursuing him at such a high speed, the officer did not go after him. Keegan said residents then phoned in several 911 calls about a motorcyclist driving dangerously before Muir collided with a car driven by Ricky Matias, whose age and address were not available. Muir was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where hospital officials said he was in critical condition Tuesday. Police said Matias was treated at the scene for minor injuries but didn’t want to be taken to a hospital. Keegan said charges against Muir were pending.

Seems like an awful lot of accidents up in that part of the burbs lately. I hope the family is all doing OK.

I'm not sure about what was all done to it, so I keep my mouth shut, but it was fast, my friend was about 350lbs and that thing still moved like a missile...

Reading about the bike, brings up memories about my friend, kinda mixed feelings about the bike beeing in an accident...

I thought so. I bet it's built and not slow whatsoever. From the pictures it looks like the kid is 150 lbs so I'm sure it moved.
I have my own feelings/thoughts about this accident but I won't say anything. I don't want anyone to get upset.

Just pointing it out so people can't blame the guy in the car or anything else. You can clearly see the guy on the bike is at fault here.

that's not fair to say he was driving recklessly. people in general think we are always speeding due to the sound of the bike and how we look. who calls 911 on someone driving past their house to fast?

I got cut off and slammed into the rear part of a car and everyone said I was speeding. I was just entering a turn lane doing the speed limit and he comes cutting thru traffic, saw me stopped then gunned it !!

i want to drink, but only to kill a certain few brain cells and i don't care how many i have to take out to get to them.

He was probably going pretty fast if the cop didn't bother to chase him...........OR that is the cops story. Who knows. Can't trust streamwood cops after the last one beat the shit out of that guy.
It also says residents called the police for driving dangerously. Kind of doesn't make sense. If someone on a bike does something stupid on your street are you really going to call the police? It takes them 10minutes to get to an accident and the bike would be gone by then.
So much confusion.

maybe he was drag racing up and down the same street for 20 minutes. I see plenty of squidly squids doing squid stuff in streamwood, so I wouldn't rule that out.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and most of them are full of shit. I knew Vince aka"Bopper" and I know the family. No one knows the whole story except for Joey. If the cops werent chasing him then how do they know what happened. They can't admit they were chasing him because they probably have a no chase law and would get sued if they admitted it. Well if you dont want to upset anyone or piss anyone off why dont you delete the newspaper artical from your posts out of respect for the family and for some of the people here. Don't sit here and pretend your all high and mighty and have never done anything wrong....cause we all have.
