Man taunts and injures naperville police dog

What the hell is wrong with people?

They should have just let the dog out of the car and have at him.

http://triblocal.com/naperville/2011...le-police-dog/

A Plainfield man is accused of taunting and injuring a Naperville police dog, who suffered minor injuries but will be OK, Naperville police said Wednesday.

Naperville Police Sgt. John Westlove said the incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. Aug. 21 near several bars in the 0-100 block of W. Jefferson Street. Westlove said a K-9 patrol officer had just finished responding to another altercation downtown when he noticed Douglas Carncross, 26, of the 300 block of Edison Lane in Plainfield, with his face near the window of his patrol car.

Inside was police canine Sabek, one of the Naperville Police’s K9 units. According to Westlove, as the officer got closer to the car, he saw the man taunting the dog.

“He was sticking his face close to the cage, yelling and screaming at the dog and sticking his tongue out and making faces,” Westlove said.

As the officer began to run toward the scene, Carncross allegedly opened the door of the patrol vehicle, which allowed Sabek to stick out his head. Alarmed, Carncross then slammed the door on Sabek’s head, causing bleeding on the gums and in the mouth.

Westlove said it took two officers to “corral” Carncross under arrest. He was arrested and charged with injuring or killing a police animal, criminal trespass to a vehicle and resisting arrest.

Westlove said Sabek will be alright.

“He’s fine, the canine handler provided first aid for the dog and he is OK,” he said.

I have zero love for the Naperville police department, and given the choice, I would gladly lock them up in the cage of a squad car and taunt them. That being said, you should never do that to a dog. The dog surely can not be tainted by the evilness that is Naperville's police department.

I agree with you. I'm no fan of them either but I think as far as the law is concerned that dog is another officer.

Either way police dogs are cool, almost as cool as service dogs and shouldn't have to put up with drunks. lol

Yea the guy should go to jail, but there's a law against hurting/killing police dogs? What about home owners who have their dogs killed by the police?

Wtf??? This thread is not about your ignorant opinions of the Naperville PD. It's about the asshole who would do that to a dog.

Downtown naper on a saturday night is like a neutron star of douchebaggery. All loaded up I can totally see myself barking back at a police dog lol

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Weird, with all the police shit inside a squad car I thought cops lock the doors when they leave it parked. Still, I cant imagine someone fucking stupid enough to open one of the doors.

I Hope this wasn't muskrats dog.

This guy apparently wants to get some attention from the dogs, they should use him as the training dummy for the dogs. Anybody who hurts an animal should be hung up by their balls.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

you have got to be NUTS to taunt a K9. And open the door??? That cop should've let the dog out for the chase instead of running the guy down himself. Let him chew him up a little before cuffing him..

Of course if I was to leave a dog in a vehicle, with all the doors and windows closed in the summer, THAT would be called animal cruelty and I'd be going to jail, especially if that happened in Naperville.

I'm so sick of animal right bullshit. It's a fucking dog, it's an animal. At no time is it more important/should have more protection rights than a human. Flame on.
