Anyone have warranty work on plasma tv done before?

I just noticed this red blotch on my tv when the screen is all black. They are coming to look at it tomorrow.
Do they typically repair plasma tv's or just replace them? I've heard it costs a lot more to repair a plasma than it's worth so seeing if there is any truth to this.

What kind?

I have a Samsung, noticed a red blotch that would be a image of the previous screen. After having the Samsung tech out twice (replaced the Y board, power supply), they finally replaced the screen. All fixed.

Fairly painless although it might take a bit for them to fix the problem (multiple appointments)

I bought extended warranty from Grant's. They came, took it off the wall, and brought it back a couple of days later all new

Easy.

It's a samsung and I don't like it. This has been there for as long as I could remember. I was hoping they can't fix it so I can get something comparable and possibly upgrade. I'm not a fan of samsung tv's.
My parents had an issue, mine has an issue. My parents now have another one and my brother has one, so that makes 4 of them and the sound output on every one is horrible. Plus the contrast ratio isn't the greatest. But we will see what happens tomorrow.

I don't want to come off as a smart ass, but if you have had multiple units and all have horrible sound why continue buying the same brand?

Simple. I bought mine after my parents first one, then theirs had problems and then my brother got his. I don't tell him what to buy.

Tv is fixed. Geek squad did a firmware update and it's fixed. I read about the update last week but decided against it because so many people had more issues after the update.

I still prefer my 6 year old sharp lcd, but it's all down to preference.
I may try to sell this one (still have a year left on the warranty) so I can get something different and maybe bigger.
I'm still hurting from losing my 65"

I give up on the plasma, LED war, etc. If it looks good, I'll buy it. Real scientific for me hehe

I have an ILA TV and it works amazing. Just tired of buying bulbs for it every 2 years, but that's it.

I called today and complained so maybe they will show up this week with a confirmation number and I'll get a credit towards a new one. My credit will be around $900. I need to get a new one and a warranty. Any recommendations that are NOT samsung and not more than $1199 (plus 269 (2yr) or 369(4yr) warranty) from best buy. Looking for a minimal of 50" but would like something a little bigger.

F you geek squad. The tech cancelled the call because he came out last week and said they don't give confirmation numbers to return the tv.
They are all fucking confused.

Geek squad just called and said I can return it and they gave me a confirmation number and my warranty is now void and I have to buy a new one. This is their comparable model.

I don't, but this is what they are giving me. I have the choice to upgrade if I talk to the store manager and they allow it.
The reviews on bestbuy seem ok, however the reviews on amazon suck. And why is it so hard to find the damn contrast ratio of this thing?
