Too small of a track for that many cars going 225+ mph, a recipe for disaster.

Bad enough when stock cars are that close .....but open wheel cars......

Just a bad deal when it goes wrong.

Sad to see - I have always had a chub for open wheel racing more that Stock Cars - The concept of it to me is the pinnacle of 4 Wheel racing - That and I have grown bored with F1

Too young to go but he went doing what he loved - Hope to be so lucky

Man that was a big loss, Dan Wheldon was an awesome driver. If he could've pulled off the 5 million dollar comeback from behind it would've been awesome. Unfortunately, the way the final race went down was just horrible. Franchitti taking the championship because of the crash and Dan dying just sucks.

Did anybody else notice they put a yellow tarp over his car right after the accident? That made me think something really bad happened since the other wrecked cars weren't covered.

I saw this when I checked the news yesterday afternoon...the headline didn't say which driver had been killed...I was shocked to find out it was Wheldon. He's one of the faces of the sport, a very talented driver and a very likable guy. A terrible tragedy for the sport.

Sad to hear of the death, but when you push vehicles like that so hard and in such a close proximity, it is bound to happen. At least he died doing what he loved!!

Ride smart... stupid hurts.

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't...

Godspeed 788!!! We miss you!
