This might make some people think about where Chicago should budget cut.

Just take a look at the list of Alderman making over 100k per year. What a joke.

You know that over the last 25 years or so (I'm going off of memory here) Chicago has averaged 1 aldermen indicted a year.

AND, the City of Chicago has twice as many aldermen as New York frickin' City. Cut them by half, halve their salaries. Bam.

Srsly! Cut the number of Alermen in half, double their district size, save lots of money. Seems pretty simple to me.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

public employees salaries have been online for a long time even before that site. I'm not defending any of the city workers, but many of the titles do not necessarily match their actual jobs. Example, there's an administrative assistant in the Mayor's office listed at 150G/year. I know what he does and he's not an admin. He's a jackass and politically connected, but he's not admin assistant.

Don't forget, an alderman position is technically part-time!!

My mother-in-law works as a crossing guard for an elementary school. She was just told that she is being laid off due to budget cuts. She makes $20 a day. Oh well, I guess crossing kids in a 40mph zone with no crosswalks/traffic lights isn't worth that.

They usually make $20 an hour, 3 hours a day. When I worked for the school district in the burbs they were making $17 an hour and that was several years ago. It's 90 mins in the morning, and 90 mins in the afternoon correct?

Some school's do 2 hours a day, but still I would swear the pay was better than $20 a day.

With the exception of policeman and fireman the old adage of union jobs with the city being safe is not true any more. I know and worked with a ton of people who worked for the city and were union who were laid off.

Chicago will always be politically heavy and corrupt.

I think it's 3 hours a day, but I know it's $20/day. I'm not sure, but her rate may be different as she is technically an employee of the cook county sherriffs. She hasn't had a raise in 10 years so she obviously doesn't do it for the money.

True , but the city sets the tone for the whole state because of crook county . I suppose you have to make that kind of coin to be able to afford to live in the city and pay the crook county property taxes .
