For The Wearers Of Contact Lens

I am basically blind as Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles put together on their worst days - I wore hard contacts as a kid for years but hated them - When the technology advanced enough where they made soft lens strong enough, I made the switch - I have a god awful astigmatisim too - Fuckin UPS man

Anyhow, enough about my randy Mother - Advance to today - Just picked up a new type of contact that gives me the prescription strength of a hard lens in a soft lens - They are called "Duettes" and they are hard lens wrapped in a soft lens - AMAZING - I finally am pretty damn close to 20/20

If any of you fucks are as blind as me and cannot see well with your current soft lens, check these things out - Whole new world - www.NewWayToSee.com

I will finally be able to see just who is passing me next season

i was wearing acuvue advance for astigmatism for the last few years, but my eye doctor recommended switching to a baush and lomb soft that i can sleep in. I used to wear the hard ones too back in the day, and i had some issues, like having to have one removed with a dental pick that wouldnt come out. Im surprised to hear that you cant get softs in your prescription. maybe beat off less?

Not an option - I am old - I have to keep the tad poles in shape

With my old soft lens, I basically had the strongest you could get and was still pretty blind - Now, it is like having my glasses on as far as clarity and strength

I've been really happy with the Oasys lenses. Probably the most comfortable I've tried.

Dante: [to Randal] You never go ass-to-mouth!
Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.

i tried hard contacts and hate them. you can feel like an eyelash is stuck in your eye. switched to soft a few years later and you can't feel anything.

I tend to wear contacts way longer than what your suppose too. I dont like them out of the box since they are too slippery on the eye.

wow, that's pretty cool!!!

i'm good with soft lenses and i've had B&L night and day ever since they came out, 11 years ago or so.
that IS one comfortable lens. didn't even know how much my old soft lenses sucked until i tried those. like a mercedes under the lenses

i'm happy you found something that works, Bug.

After my eye doctor got a look at the permanently filthy mechanic hands I use to install my contact lenses he suggested I switch to the one day disposables so I get a fresh pair every day. They cost about $150 more per year but I get a brand new pair every day and they're thinner than the 2 week lenses I had before. It feels like I don't even have contacts in.

My blindness prohibited me from getting disposables - Would have LOVED to go that route - Before these, I had the kind that came out ever night and lasted about 3 month - These are good for 6 months and come out every night as well - A tad more expensive than the previous type but worth it for the clarity and clearness that I now have with my vision

From my house, I can see Russia......

Nice Bug. I've been wearing the Duettes for almost a year now. It took me about a week to get used to it since they do have the hard contact in them. Now I really don't notice.
One negative that I found though is that they say they are good for 6 months. I find that to be crap. After about 4 months they started to fog up on me. I called the doc and they replaced them for free though.

I had the same issue with my old lenses - I then starting using this shit every night and it made my 3 month lens good for 4 and 5 months - A little more expensive but makes the lens last - Also have to let them soak for 6 hours before putting them back in your eyes - I soak over night so never an issue

Yes. It sucks. Carb cleaner sucks even worse. Neither sucks nearly as bad as when a kid we had working here accidentally cranked over an engine as I was looking down into the spark plug hole of a cylinder with a leaky injector. It forcefully sprayed about a quart of gasoline into my face and eyes.

I had close calls but just a mist so never felt it really.

I had 1 drop of brake clean fall in my ear, and you can "hear" it go down the sinus and clean it out, then 1 hour of it burning like a matherfawker. the entire side of my face.

I suggest you get Lasik. My prescription was -8.5 and that was the highest it goes, I didn't even see 20/20 with those. Lasik took care of that! Only cost $4800 (6 years ago). I had it done by the best, Kraff Eye Institute. If you go in their office, you'll see all the autograph of all the Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Blackhawks athletes who had their Lasik done by Dr. Kraff. He's a legend.

At one point they did Lasik for FREE for veterans who served in combat zone. They don't have that anymore I think, but offer a pretty good discount. It's tcmalker-approved.

After watching tcmalker's riding videos Ryan thinks tcmalker should go back to Dr. Kraff to get tcmalker's eyes checked again.

I got my done at TLC in Westchester. Life time correction. Best FSA money my company ever gave me.

I loaded my FSA with 5k (Max you can do) and left the company in April.

I have a few buddies that got LASIK and they have a whole new set of problems - They have to hold the menu 10 feet away to read it, or wear reading glasses

I started using glasses last year for the computer and TV, and on occasion will wear them while driving at night. I'm pretty badly near-sighted in one eye with a slighty astigmatism in the other eye. Been thinking about getting contacts so I'l have to check these out.

Jackson eye is on groupon, $2250 is an awesome price, and they do great work. Dr. Jackson has been doing LASIK forever. I am very happy with my experience there.
