Cool Have to pay for WiFi at o'hare? really?

WOW,
one of the biggest airports in the world...
i thought we had almost 2012. they actually don't have free WiFi.

even better, they don't have any accessible power outlets. i'm sitting on my suitcase, plugged in by a fire extinguisher...

friggin $7 for 24 hours. who the hell stays here 24 hours? that's right, nobody...

rant off, carry on

It's been like that for years. I'm just glad my company pays for an embedded VZW card and I don't worry about that BS.

Also don't forget that in cook county $4 of that $7 is theirs.

Very few airports have free WiFi, even overseas. The only airports I can think of where you DON'T pay are Denver and Albuquerque. All the airports I've been in in Europe have been pay-per-use.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I wouldn't have paid for it, but i'm kinda stuck at the airport for a bit. stand by..

so, finally it was all worth the wait.
i'm sitting at the gate and i had no idea they allowed whales in the airplanes.
there's a whale in gym outfit and three wayyyy too loud and bad behaved kids in my vicinity. (gotta stick to this. found a power outlet)

i hope the airplane will be able to fly straight..

Most US airports I've been in have pay for use WiFi. There are a few exceptions, such as Denver, Omaha, Burbank, CA, & San Francisco. However in some of these locations, the WiFi is "sponsored" and you are forced to see ads before you can connect.

Customer use outlets are a fairly new thing, and some airports/airlines have installed them and some haven't. Southwest usually has some at their gates in most stations, and Delta at some gates at their larger stations. But it's airline by airline, and gate by gate in most airports.

I travel most weeks. This is all old news, including the "oversized" people.

Craig

It seems all the airports that actually care about their customers provide free wifi. I've been to all major airports in the country, and a ton of the small/intermediate ones, and you can usually tell if there will be free wifi by the way the terminals look. Take one look inside O'hare and compare it to Regan International and you'll understand.

Verizon wireless embedded card - FTW!!!

You could always earn some money like the girl in the commercial, and charge for access to your hotspot.

After getting my pilot's license, I asked one of the pilots about how they handled the whole weight/balance calculation issue since no-one is ever asked for their weight prior boarding.

Ready??? He said it's an estimate based on an average person. : I've seen a lot people who are "far above average". It's scary.
