RC Cars

I used to race gas powered rc cars years ago. It was a lot of fun and lately ive really been itching to build a new one and go racing again. Anybody on here into this hobby and want to start racing? They race sunday's in joliet for gas power. Indoor and outdoor track with pretty big pit area for host a couple dozen people.

My truck is the in the first 1:40. My first time as a test subject for the then unopened track. Also my first time driving that truck so thats why I looked bad.

Little competition now and I think it was a tank of gas now so getting the hang of it.

Yeah, I race at Leisure Hour every now and then. I run a nitro Losi Eight T 2.0. If you head out that way again post up.

If you do build one again take a close look at electric. Those things are bad as hell. I was consistently getting smoked down the back straight by a brushless buggy. Insane power and completely tunable to track/skill. I am seriously considering converting my truggy.

Electric is cool but i'm a nitro guy. Ive had a few electrics but just never got into them like I did with nitro. They got some really cool shit out now compared to back in 06. Traxxas really stepped up there game as well. Can almost just get everything from them now, btw im a revo guy. I was the first person to get a revo when they were released and still love that truck. Never got to convert it to a truggy tho which I think is whats driving me to want to get back in.

Man, Revo's are sweet. I've got a 1/16 Revo brushless. I run the cells in series so I am pushing over 15 volts through it. That little thing will easily do about 65 MPH. Back flips at 40++ MPH are no problem.

I hear ya about the nitro. The smell, the noise is all great. All my helicopters were nitro too. Until I flew my first large electric. Never again. LOL. The mess, the noise, the smell... lol. I like being able to plug in and go.

The vids look pretty good! I've done a ton of rc racing, but mostly onroad TC.

I've been to Leisure a bunch too for offroad...1/10 buggy and stadium truck. It's a blast to race but the hobby is just a money pit if you race. I hate being at the track all day to only actually drive a short period of time. I had enough rc stuff to easily by a race SV650. Lol. I've even traveled farther to race rc then track my motorcycle.

That being said, I still thinks its fun as hell but if I'm going to be spending money I just prefer 1:1 scale now.

Trackside in WI converted their entire indoor carpet track to off-road now. If you ever get into electrics my buddy runs Speed Passion USA.

It's winter so even at Leisure with their exhaust fans suck. I just hated smelling like nitro fuel all day.

Brushless with lipo FTW.

Let the madness begin. Have been in and out of RC since I was 12..now 38. Keep an eye on costs adding up. Back in 09 I got back into to it innocently enough with 1/16 racing, that balled into 1/10 touring cars and 3 cars later I easily racked up thousands $$. but thanks to track days I am out of RC once again. I am sure the bug will bite me in a few more years LOL. Have fun!! Go to Rctech.com. Lots of great info and their classified forums are killer.

Did/do you know Jdog, Tony (fat older guy), Walt, or Ron S? I remember those guys, but it's been awhile since I raced offroad.

I have no idea what all this truggy and 1/16 scale stuff is. I got out of it while it was still an art to tune and modify engines. Right about when Traxxas made every buddy think that running gas was easy. You've never spent epic money until you have done 1/8th scale on road. Picco Rossi powered Serpent was the coolest thing I ever owned. Runner up was the 1/8th scale Kyosho MP5. Right about '98 I stopped working at a hobby shop regularly and thus lost the killer discount. Anyone remember Pattys old place in LIH? Or Venture Raceway?

I've driven 1/8th and they are ridiculous and a money pit like you said. I just about live at Venture Raceway for a few years.

Is it mint or in really good condition. Older Kyoshos and Tamiyas have a pretty good following overseas. The vintage RC scene in some areas is big and they pay well for old RC cars in good condition.
