Sprint Problems

Outside of being the worst cell phone service for years already (I know, I've had them for work since '04), have you guys been having even WORSE than usual cell service lately?

I just dropped 3 calls in under 2 mins. Averaging probably 10-15 a day...being as I need this phone for work this is just not acceptable. They tell us cell towers are down in the area. I'm demanding they let me out of my contract tomorrow. It's been like a week of this sh!t.

The cell towers being down in your area is the oldest excuse with Sprint.

I would get their service even if you paid me.

I had the EVO with a 2 year contract. Ended up walking away from them 6 months into the service. They didn't charge any ETF.

I know the "towers are down" excuse, but something really did happen in the past week. I literally cannot make or receive a call for more than a few minutes, if that, over the past week or so.

We only went to them (reluctantly) because we get a really big discount with them through my wife's work...but it's not worth it anymore. I honestly don't know how they stay in business.

I've seen posts on FB about a big increase in dropped calls with Sprint. Maybe they were doing a network upgrade that didn't go as planned.

While I haven't seen the call dropping that you have experienced, I have seen a significant degredation in Sprint's 3G data network over the past 6-10 months. It's been terribly frustrating.

The only light at the end of the tunnel, is that I know that Sprint is actively working on rolling out LTE here in Chicagoland. I have a friend who is actually working on one of the teams dealing with that.

But I'll confess that Verizon continues to tempt me, though they'll cost me at least $50/month more.

Tommy Boy - I dumped Sprint back in June and got on VZ and it ROCKS - The LTE on my iPad is as fast as my WiFi - I know you give 2 shits about Data and thats cool so lets move on to dropped calls, on an iPhone 4, maybe 1 out of 100 and that is when i try an sneak a call in with no bars showing in an elevator

Sprint was great in my Condo downtown but VZ is just as good and works in places my Sprint did not

Yeah Verizon is who we're looking to switch to. We get a big discount with them as well. I had US Cellular for years until I switched to Sprint last year. What a mistake. I literally cannot work from home right now. I was talking to a friend last night, 3 dropped calls in as many minutes and the 4th try would not connect at all...then I turned on 360 for some late night gaming, the Wife called me from the bedroom to yell at me for the noise and the call was dropped before she could say a word...ok maybe Sprint gets a nod for that particular incident but overall it's just unacceptable. I mean seriously, I have to borrow a phone to work from home tomorrow.

If you're looking at Verizon and would need a family plan that includes data, wait.

Currently Vzn Family Plans require each member to get an individual data plan, which becomes SUPER fucking expensive. You can share a bucket of minutes in the family plan, but not data.

However, it is expected sometime this year that Verizon WILL finally introduce shared data plans. Depending on your consumption pattern, this stands to work to your benefit.

Here's some additional details:

Me and 2 other friends of mine are experiencing the same thing. We are all out near Aurora. I will make a call and it will be good for about a minute or so and then it will go blank for 15 seconds and drop the call. Been experiencing for about 4 days now. Apparently there is a tower down.
I remember when I worked for them they wouldn't let us turn the frequency down to avoid RF waives or if service on one single tower was down they would freak out. I find it hard to believe that a tower is down. There is probably over 20 in our area so it should not affect it.
Im glad I only pay $74 out the door for everything. I could go somewhere else but I would be paying twice as much.

LTE = Longing Tethered Energy.

Doesnt make sense to make a fast service for a portable device, that requires itself to be plugged in to prevent battery eating. (or gorging)

Yep, that's my issue exactly. It's just not acceptable for me, I need this phone for business calls!! My wife went in to bitch yesterday...they said call customer service. I wish I was there, would have told them I F*#KING CAN'T BECAUSE MY PHONE DOESN'T WORK!

PS...if anyone needs Verizon, my best friend from childhood is a store manager at one of their retail locations. They don't have too much power, but he'll hook you up as best he could. Plus, he'd appreciated the sales!

That would be awesome.
5Gb for me and my wife would be plenty of data to share.

3G data is so fucking slow lately, I'm about to trow my phone through the window. I was at ATT with Iphone's 3Gs and I was loosing lots of calls but internet worked much faster.
I would switch to Verizon but that would cost me more than 50$ on two lines.
How to brake the contract with Sprint without paying any penalties?
Lately they changed the plan first line 110$ from 129$, and second 19$ from 0$. That made my discount change by 6$ . Could I use that as a reason to tell the to fuck off, you changed my plan I want out?

I would pay the premium I was paying with US Cellular in a heartbeat to have them back.

We're on the phone with Sprint Cancellation department now. I tried to do it on the way back from the Sprint store but the call got dropped!

Seriously, ever SINGLE call is dropped. Even texts take a few mins each to send. My phone, quite simply, does not work. I'm working from home tomorrow...how the heck am I supposed to get anything done without a phone?

Hopefully we're on our way to the new place shortly.

This is such horseshit. The Sprint place on 59 and 95th said they've been bombarded with people with the same problem. What kind of horsecrap company is this? At least send out a message or something that the network is facked in this area and you will not be charged for the past week!?

This is probably the most upset I've been with a business since I almost got in a fist fight with one of the Webb boys.

So just found out sprint decided to take it upon themselves to charge me for a phone that I paid for in the store, add a cancellation fee and an activation fee that was already waved. Everything was taken care of and then it just showed up on the bill. I already paid $200 for the phone and renewed the contract for 2 years and now they want an additional $400
My friend who is on the same contract with me called for a credit for the outage and they told her too bad.

Yep. We're on the phone with them now. They want $50/phone to cancel. My wife just tried to call me to discuss, call was dropped before she said a word. She has to call from work because her phone doesn't work in Warrenville either.

We're communicating via text at the moment, and even at that 1 out of 10 or so won't go through.

The free one Galaxy S. It's not switched over yet...I kept my number so it will swap over some time in the next day.

Seriously...this is beyond bad service, it flat doesn't work! I mean literally. The phone was almost completely unusable. I don't know what it is, but it's completely unacceptable...especially without notifying the customer base and immediately offering credits for the disservice. Horrible service, even worse customer relations.
