KBC Helmets

I am looking into this helmet. Anyone have a review on it? Havent heard much about KBC. Are they good helmets? Is KBC a generic brand like AFX or is a top shelf brand like Shoei or Icon?

I don't know much about KBC and can't help you there.

However, Icon is not and it never will be a "top shelf brand" and it should NEVER be compared to Shoei, Arai, Suomy, AGV and even HJC.

I wouldnt touch a KBC or AFX period (definately NOT a Z1R either).

Now Icon is, from what I understand, is made by HJC using designs from Icon. Still not on par with Arai, Suomy, Shoei, Bell or AGV.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

I've had a couple kbc helmets and liked them, I crashed in one really bad and it did a great job of protecting me.

I had a VR-1X last season and it got the job done. I've never worn a top shelf brand, but I felt comfortable in my KBC.

I know ICON and HJC are pretty much the same company. I have an ICON helmet now and I love it. Its just 3 years old and mybrother just dropped it off my bike. Time for a new helmet. I dont have $800 to drop on an Arai like I want so Im just looking for some more feasible options here.

The only way you are dropping $800 on a helmet is if you get the BRAND new graphic style some pro wears and it has been out for less than a year

KBC, HJC, Icon, etc etc are all pretty much the same but will "crash" just like any other helmet of an Arai caliber - The cost comes with the "fit" and that comes down to your bean, not the Mfg - I have crashed in a $150 HJC before and been fine - I have also crashed in a $500 Arai and been fine but eh Arai fit like a broken in baseball cap and had VERY little wind noise - The HJC fit like a construction work helmet and sounded like I was standing in front of an industrial strength fan

I recall pics of that helmet ground down to the glass mesh, and you went out partying the same night too iirc?

Probably the reason why I got a VR1 when I upgraded years ago.

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"

Well alot of places have a closeout sale on Suomy. Have a Suomy Apex thats supposed to arrive tomorrow (basically the Spec1R with a new name) that I got for $150 (one color). Picked up a Suomy Vandal Pitt replica for $140 closeout from a local shop. Both were around $400ish retail.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

that drop wont hurt your helmet if there was no head inside of it to dent the foam shell

it will however mess up the paint and look like hell warranting a beating for your brother though

The Arai profile has been discontinued and is selling for pretty cheap almost everywhere. It's a long oval shell shape, so it may, or may not fit your head. The profile and signet Q are the only lids I've tried on that actually fit me properly.

I learned today that HJC doesnt own ICON or have anything to do with them. KBC makes ICON, and all of Yamaha's production equipmentas well alot of Suzuki's, and Honda's gear. Crazy stuff when learn when you ride a GSX-R into a Honda dealership to replace your visor.
