If Trayvon feared for his life.... and felt he needed to defend it by "standing his ground", he should have run away. That was the better option.
A confrontation takes two people. This "kid" profiled by the media with a biased photo from years ago..... was a self proclaimed "punk". A football athlete, who had an attitude. Why else would you elude.... then confront someone. Remember, per the 911 tapes, Zimmerman looses sight of him... THEN gets into the confrontation when walking back to his truck. Why didn't Trayvon just run home, he was an athlete after all, he should have been able to out run Zimmerman once he was out of his truck.
Zimmerman probably IS an overzealous wanna be "cop". However, the story doesn't read, "17 year old kid shot in the back while running home yelling for help". If it did, then this would be clear cut.
Two people screwed up that night. Where would you stand if Zimmerman wasn't carrying, same series of events, but instead he was beaten by Travvon and in the Hospital? Still self defense by Trayvon?
Well let's see. He lost him, instructed by dispatcher not to pursue him, but disregarded those instructions. Why was he following him anyway? Profiling. Why did he continue to pursue him? "Because F'n coons always get away." He had no authority to make sure that coon didn't get away.
I live in Gary, probably 98% black. When I see a white person driving through the hood I don't automatically assume they're here to buy drugs or kidnap some child. (Profiling) I go about my business. It's called neighborhood watch not neighborhood shoot. Where was it stated he was confronted when returning to his truck? Why was he out of the truck?
Maybe two people did screw up but Zimmerman was clearly the initiator. Didn't have any legal authority in his activity. Hell, our auxilary police that wear badges have to call a real cop if someone needs to be arrested.
Why didn't Trayvon run? Maybe he didn't fear for his life. Doesn't mean he was ready to die. Who knows? No one ever will as long as the story is one sided. Meaning only one party got to tell his side.
Would it still have been self defense on Trayvon's part? I say so. The law doesn't state it matters who gets the best of whom.
If it were me being followed I wouldn't lead the person following to my zone of safety. For all he know Zimmerman could've been a pedo. Not saying Trayvon was correct if he did confront Zimmerman given the results. But I don't think he would've been considered the agressor.
