URGENT help needed for rider down - Aurora

Please keep your eyes/ears open and crosspost to all you know to find the person who hit my friend Max in Aurora on Friday. Max was riding my old Honda Hawk 650NT, red with white ghost flames, white rims.

Police are looking for a WHITE CHEVY TRAVERSE that will have heavy passenger side damage.

While I find it hard to grasp that riders would leave the scene and leave a fellow rider down, They said there were 2 other bikes with him however we don't know who they were and the family would like to speak with them and get more information on the accident.

http://beaconnews.suntimes.com/news/...l#.T7MF5IggGoQ.

I know I'm rarely on here anymore but this is very important...

Not only a hit and run ...but he had "friends" with him and no one stopped ?

Wow ... that's as low as you can be.

One prayer for the impossible recovery.

From what I was told they were not "Friends" he was riding with, just other riders who happened to be on the road. Sadly if this is true... they took off and left a fellow rider down

Don't be too quick to judge those other riders. If those other riders were in front of him, they may not even know it happened. How many times have we been on group rides and only discovered the group got a little smaller after coming to a stop somewhere.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

and if the other riders bike, plates, license, insurance, etc weren't legitimate, they sure as hell weren't going to stick around and wait for police. Sad but true

Hope your friend recovers quickly

Whenever I ride with a group, I am ALWAYS checking for the other riders, behind me, as well as in front of me. Even if they were in front of him, they should have been looking back occassionally just to see if the group was still intact. And then if they notice a rider missing, they should stop and wait for them to catch up, or if that is taking too long, go back and look to see if anything happened.

There was NO excuse for this taking off action here. Even if I didn't know the riders, I would have stopped, gone back, and helped as much as I could. That's just motorcycle rider courtesy and common sense.

When Shelly crashed out near Starved Rock a while back, I didn't know her then, and I still stopped and called 911 and did what I could. I know I cannot be the exception to this, and I know our riders here at CLSB are equally courteous and looking out for everyone: It's one of many reasons why I ride with this group.

Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.

Dave you are right, most would do as you did, but Marr has a very good point. The first thing that popped in my head when I read Red's post was, the other guys did not want to deal with the police for one reason or another.

I hope the down rider heals up quick and they find the perpetrator.

While I agree with you on always checking for other riders, I also have seen what others have said and people do peel off without telling anyone. The group that I mainly rode with communicated well and we were all good friends, that may not have been the case here and they may not have even seen what happened. Now if they indeed see it and took off, well karma will catch up with them.

Red, I hope your friend does recover and I will say a prayer for him. I really hope they find the driver of the Traverse and lock their ass up.

With great sorrow I must report that Max passed away last night.

REPORTING from his family:

Good morning my Max followers, our family wants to thank you all for the prayers and love we have been receiving. We are currently waiting the Donor team to come in so that Max may pass on the gift of life. We ask that you continue to keep Max in your thoughts has we wait for his next journey to begin. Much love and hugs to all.

For the record not that it matters, according to an eyewitness the other riders were behind him.

Please keep your eye/ears open for the White Chevy Traverse w/passenger side damage.

I can't think of any words for this now. This lack of courtesy, or compassion, or whatever word I'm trying to find here, in society nowadays just sickens me. I just don't understand how people can be so lacking.

to defend the other riders, may be they were going after the hit & run driver? Maybe they got the license plate # or captured something on their helmet cam?

Please folks, protect yourself by getting a camera of some type. I have one on my helmet and one attached to the rear. Someone hits me and I will know who!

No riders have stepped forward, if what you say in defense of the other riders is true... they need to step up.

Until then, please post the article on your facebook accts to fellow riders, autobody peeps, etc. It's a small world and someone knows something.

UPDATE from the family:

To our biker community, we just found out the other bikers did not leave Max! They came up to the site Max was already down and the police were there and told them to keep going. We have found out the the one biker is quite distraught that people would think that any biker would not help a fellow biker.

Nothing confirmed as to exactly what happened aside from the SUV turning into Max. The family is awaiting more details and hoping more eyewitnesses step up.
