I never remember the names of the places in Galena, but I've never eaten at a bad one down there. It's all gonna be good.

The girl and I spend a long weekend in Galena in March and I have to say out of the 8 or so places we ate, Durty Gurt's was the best. Great burgers, milkshakes and the owner is a sweet heart.

Fritz and Frites was ok, but nothing special. We also tried the Log Cabin since it was highly recommended by the locals. That place was by far the biggest disappointment. Very expensive and you didn't get a lot for your money, IMO. Steak was average at best and the fries I got were cold and hard as rocks; bread was good though. Keep in mind we went for dinner, so I'm not sure how their lunch specials are.

If you're into hot sauces and salsa, check out the Galena Canning Company.

The talk about Durty Gurt's and the good burgers did jog my memory. I've eaten there too ... it's good stuff.
