Places that dont exist anymore

If anyone has been around, they would have remembered this place. I was just a kid and loved going there.

I believe the place was called, the twilight zone.
no im just jerking your long chain

Dispensa(sp)

short history,
it was located in Oakbrook, right across from the sears. It was there for about 15 years? And they tore it down in 1985, i think.
It basicaly was an amusement park. There was a castle which inside was a toys store. And to the left was the rides. A train circled the entire amusement park.

There is a website i can post, of a lady who has a little thing of this amusement park. And the building that is located there now.
I believe the owners sold the place because of the valuable plot of land. It does really suck.

If anyone else has pics, i would love to see the front of the amusement park.

How about "Playland". Labdog, I was at Old Chicago a few times. There is an old movie called "The Fury" that has scenes filmed in there. It was on cable last week.
I never heard of a park called "Twilight Zone".

Well lets see..... she was about 20 or 25 in that pic...... it was about 1985 or earlier jedging by the pics, so that puts her to:

about 45 to 50, had 3 to 4 kids, maybe even a grandma already, possible sagging boobs and a droopy butt. LOL LOL .....

or... she might still have a butt like that.

Old Chicago
Amusement
Park

555 S. Bolingbrook Drive, Bolingbrook IL 60439

opened 1975
closed 1981
torn down 1986

Old Chicago was the world's first completely enclosed amusement park and shopping center, open 365 days a year. It consisted of a large square building with a dome in the center. The rides and attractions (the "Old Chicago Fairgrounds") were in the center under the dome, and the shopping area surrounded them. When it opened in 1975, part of the grand opening celebration included a tap dancer dancing on the very top of the dome.
Sadly the building was finally torn down in 1986. Currently, a car auction lot occupies the space, and all that remains is a street named 'Old Chicago Drive.'

ironic

I was talking to my coworker about bolingbrook, few days ago. And he said there was a mall with a rollercoaster in it. He never been there, but said he saw it on tv. But didn't provide much other information. Also said, it was viewable when driving on I 55.

So i guess, that was the mall he was talking about.
Does anyone have pics of the inside? i have to search for this on the internet.

I did a search on ebay for stuff. And i came upon an old postcard of a amusement park in Lyons. It was located on harlem and joliet rd, i think. This was back , back in the day.

My dad has been to "riverside".

Ive heard and saw the riverside site, that they are planning on building a riverside II somewhere near Joliet.

Old Chicago was huge. As I remember though, there were no large "anchor" stores in there. All it was, was a bunch of small clothing and knick-knack shops. The main attraction was the indoor amusement park. I remember it was kinda dark, smelly and echo(y) in there. All the rides were a small cut-down size. Unique, but kinda dumb. The circus act I do remember is the one where a guy would balance on top of a giant flexible pole with one hand and sway back and forth and do acrobatics(way scary).

i think that place in lyons, either is all woods, or theres a house there. i cant remember.

I do know the "tool store" is across the street.

Im wondering if i have been to old chicago, im not too far away. I do have weird pictures of me playing at some odd place when i was a kid. could have been old chicago.

Also, anyone remember enchanted castle, when it was first new. And all the stages it went through.

Plus, show biz pizza was badass. They sell those robots on ebay. theres also a site that talks about the history of show biz.

That was my highschool hangout... I am getting old, just had my neice's b-day there a couple of months ago and the place has changed, they do not have the latest arcade games anymore. Come to think of it, the arcade is really a dinousaur now... Wow make room sloRoll I'm coming.

back to the topic... I heard there used to be something in lake street by Meacham that ended up closic because it was a toxic waste dump or something or other... Kelly... do you know what I am talking about?
