EPA mandates 4 gal. fuel buy: TAKE ACTION!

In answer to AMA inquiries how to prevent E 15 contamination being pumped into motorcycle and ATV tanks at multi blend pumps the EPA says it is going to require minimum 4 gallon purchases to dilute the residual E 15 in pumps and hoses. This is ridiculous and could lead to serious damage to vehicles not designed for E 15.
Read more and TAKE ACTION at the following link by using the AMA Rapid Response System.

http://www.AmericanMotorcyclist.com/...gislation.aspx

You DO NOT have to be an AMA member to use the system. This is an important issue and affects EVERYONE who rides motorcycles and ATV's.
Let your voice be heard by taking action NOW!

Thanks,

In the second paragraph of the AMA alert in my link the word "letter" is a link to the EPA's letter to AMA VP of Government Relations, Senator Wayne Allard that states VERY CLEARLY that in cases where E10 and E15 are sold at the same blending pump a 4 gallon minimum purchase will be required.

How often are you able to put 4 gallons of fuel into your bike? How many bikes and ATV's have 4 gallon tanks? AND...I know it's easy to say go to a station that has separate pumps for E10 and E15 but if you're not in a big metro area like we live in that may not be possible!

Personal Editorial Comment: This is not only the EPA showing their stupidity and ignorance it's indicative of its complete arrogance and disregard for the American public!

done. that's just retarded.

Besides, when I'm in chicago and near empty, I'll buy a SINGLE gallon for my car so I can make it back to Oak Lawn, where gas is typically 15 to 20 cents cheaper.

From the way I read it, they are only requiring a 4 gallon minimum purchase for pumps that have both E10 and E15 coming from the same hose, but no minimum if the gas station has dedicated hoses for E10 or E15.

Now, that being said, I have no idea how gas stations will be set up to handle this as I haven't been following the story much, but I signed the petition any way.

Reply from Joe Walsh

Dear Ben,

Thank you for contacting me regarding legislation to increase the blend of ethanol in the gas at U.S. fueling stations. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views.

As you may know, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently granted two waivers to allow E15 (gasoline with a 15 percent ethanol blend) to be sold for vehicles with model years 2001 and later. Gasoline with a 10 percent ethanol blend known as E10 is currently offered at many fueling stations in the United States and some states like Florida are now passing mandates to make E10 the standard fuel found at pumps. This action by the EPA could soon lead to many gasoline stations offering E15 as their standard fuel.

As you may know, Rep. James Sensenbrenner (WI-5) introduced H.R. 748 in February 2011. This legislation has been introduced to prohibit the EPA from authorizing the use of E15 and other gasoline containing greater than 10 percent ethanol in certain vehicles. This issue is currently before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and though I do not serve on this committee please rest assured that I will keep your comments in mind should this or any similar measure come to the House floor for a vote.

Again, thank you for contacting me. It is a privilege and an honor to serve you. Please feel free to visit my website at walsh.house.gov to sign-up for email newsletter updates on issues that are important to you.

I work for you,

Joe Walsh

Every person in America could go buy their four gallons of E-15 , bring it home, and immediately dump it into the kitchen sink and the EPA would still feel that it had achieved something.

I farking hate ethanol gas. The last several tanks in my bike ive been out of the chicagoland area and been able to get pure gasoline and the mileage improvement is noticeable.

Until ethanol makes the fuel 50% cheaper than gasoline i don't want the low power shit.

why did we make so many god damn farmersw rich on this shit?

Diesel pumps are separate from standard fuel pumps, so E15 should be also ... or at least one would think so.
