Daily Rant thread – what’s bugging you?

I don't know about you guys, but there's usually at least one thing every day that rubs me the wrong way and requires a "discussion" later on. Thought this place needed a place for that discussion. Here's my rant for today...

So when I’m running late for work, I usually skip breakfast at home and hit up McDonalds for sausage mcmuffins - $1 each and pretty tasty. I can get two sammiches, spend my $2.20 and be in and out within about 5 minutes from my regular route. Very convenient and it's usually very fresh. Overall it's a pretty pleasant experience. What pisses me off is the guy who’s at the pay windown at the one on Eola. Every time I go through there, he is always looking for you like you’re wasting his time. Every time the car in front of me pulls forward from the “pay” window to the “pickup” window, he’s got his head out the window looking at me wondering what’s taking so long. I’m sorry, but unless I’m planning on jamming the gas pedal as soon as those taillights turn off, there is a small reaction time and the time required ffor the other car to clear out and for me to slowly accelerate. Sorry if my driving through the drive through like a normal person is taking too long for you. I’m in a hurry too and I’d like to get my meal and be on my way, but seriously, don’t start looking for me as soon as the car’s rear bumper in front of me clears your f-ing window. Keep your damn head inside the building and show a little patience. If I don’t make it in 30 seconds or something, then start looking, but until then – take a breath and relax.

never dealt with that dood at eola, The rest of the staff there has always been fantastic. That would annoy me too, I would start thinking he was tempting me as a popout target.

my vagina is pissed about something so I have to decide what to choose for todays rant.

For all of the people that hang out in the left lane, while cars are passing you on the right... I seriously want to make a sign to hold up that says "Who the fuck are you passing over there?!"

These are the same people that get to work and probably tell people that traffic wasn't bad at all. Only because you never looked behind you to see the mile of cars backed up.

I’m sure you’re correct with the education. Based on the level of English being spoken, I’d would say he’s rather new to the country. He seems to be very upbeat and about 3 cups of coffee in when I see him (very fast moving, excited) which might explain the impatience. But remember, I haven’t had any coffee by that point in the morning so that much impatience while I’m trying to get my day rolling really gets under my skin. Maybe they’re trying to hit sales numbers and need I high turnover – who knows?

As for the mcmuffins, I run 3+ miles each night just so eating those every once in a while doesn’t kill me.

one more - people that park in front of the Red Box at Jewel as if there is a reserved spot or special parking to use those machines. Inevitably, right in front of the entrance door.

What's bugging me is that I ran out of fiber a couple days ago and haven't gotten around to getting more.

I eat a high protein diet and without the fiber, I get plugged up pretty bad. I now know what it feels like to be pregnant. Just got my cup of Starbucks though, so hopefully it helps "move stuff along."

Will report back later with an update. Pics if it's particularly impressive.

I dont like when idiots on the left lane are half a mile behind the next car. Move the hell over so others can use that lane properly. They wont move even if they see people behind them change lanes just to get in front of him /her.

Biggest annoyance lately (besides the diet low in fiber)...

Quality Engineers. Seriously, fuck all of them. If I ask you a motherfucking question, don't insult me by asking a question back to me. I'm trying to be professional and get your input even though I really don't give a shit about it, at least be intelligent enough to form an opinion of your own. I know what I think about the issue at hand jackass.

Why don't you try adding some value to your worthless position and take responsibility for something instead of making me do even more paperwork. You supposedly have an engineering degree, you know what engineers do, they solve motherfucking problems! That's what we get paid to do. So how about instead of creating more problems, use your half-wit brain and come to a logical conclusion for once in your pathetic life.

I have actual deliverables to customers to finish, I don't have time to go to a stupid meeting because you can't figure out how to ask the vendor a question to fill out a cell in your spreadsheet. And of course, your stupid meeting invite has the ! point next to it because it's the most important thing you have to do. Guess what, it's about 1,238 on my list of stuff to do today.

My apologizes if there are any quality engineers on this board. Well not really, I hope you are at least better than the ones at my company.

Rant over.

People who stop at stop signs with their rear tires on the white line. FuckTard's, you align your cars front wheels or front bumper on the line.
Don't even get me started on not using directionals. Every season I almost asspack a car while on my bike by someone who decides to turn without ant indication.

Not all of them are that bad. Many of them are though. I am one and have to scratch my head trying to figure out how someone with an engineering degree doesn't know the most basic mechanical things and has no ability to problem solve. They come up with the most idiotic tools that just create more paper work. Ishikawa diagrams, 5 whys's, Root cause Analysis, Cause and Effects, Stratifications, etc..... All tools that help talent-less people arrive at the most logical conclusions that anyone with half a brain could have figured out. Dont even get my started on Six Sigma black belts.... They are the worst at that.

And I wasnt planning to rant, I just couldn't contain myself.

Oh don't worry I rode it all last night through the weather and then rode it into work today.

I ride it almost everyday to work. Bought it in Feb. I think with 1500 miles and already have 10200 miles on it. Tossed on a new set of tires last month and did my oil change on Monday.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one that feels this way. And you are correct, not all of them are bad, but of the couple dozen I've worked with at my company and customers, I think I've only met a couple that I actually enjoyed working with and wouldn't create more work for me to fill out all that crap you listed above.

People at work who think certain jobs are below their pay grade. Our GM will literally print a memo that something needs to be wiped up, lets say a 1oz coffee spill in the cafe. Print the memo, walk over to the presidents assistant, instruct her to give it to me so I can get one of the cleaning staff to clean it !! Yes, a little spilled coffee required 4 people total to clean when he could have just taken a paper towel and cleaned it when spotted. FYI, he got pissed when I said it would take 10 seconds to clean and I would just do it. Said he didn't want me doing it, wtf?
Also got a voice mail after hours once that he had to turn off my office light because I forgot. If I had to call attention to all of the mundane unimportant things around here I would never get anything done
