buying a new treadmill

any recommendation on a good treadmill? I *plan* to run every other day 3-4miles.

I had Smooth 9.3P but gave that away since I didn't have room in my condo. Now that I bought a house, I want another treadmill. I know from experience that Smooth is a very good brand.

I've narrowed it down to three models:

5.65 (folding) $849
9.35 $1699
9.65 $1999

My budget is under $2000. I'm open to all suggestions.

Easy, go run outside, $0.

Chances are your "plan" to run every other day will slowly become once a week, to once a month, to once a year, to posting it on CL.

Man up, get some winter gear from under armour or its equivalent, and run outside

Heck you can get a gym membership for quite some time for that price, and have access to much more equipment.

Yup, this coming from a guy that has a weight bench in his room but literally hasn't touched it in about 8-9 years.

It works well to keep my clothes hanging up and separated.

Just browse CL, good stuff for cheap, no need for a new one.

you all forget that tcmalker's a baller. money is no object (if it's under $2000)

This is serious. I am serious. I plan to run a marathon in 2014. I'm training for it now!

There are advantages to treadmills:

convenience (it's literally 20 ft away)
accessibility (you can't run in rain or snow!)
privacy (you can run as slow or fast as you want)
health (easier on your joint than running on concrete)

I don't plan on joining a health club because I don't feel like driving there. I already have a half rack set up in my basement. I can do everything on that including squats. I need to somehow set up a pull up station. I got 15,20,25,30,35,40 dumbbells. An ellipitical. And hopefully soon a treadmill.

My question for the runners who has a treadmill is which one do you recommend. I am 90% leaning toward Smooth Fitness 9.35HR, which has its lowest advertise price of $1699. I also found a 5% off coupon, so the total price is $1614 shipped.

The question is: Can I get by with the 5.65, which would cost me $800 shipped.

You're a baller man, why try saving $800, go for the best one possible.

treadmill is going to be in the basement so I have to becareful which one I buy. I only have 12" head clearance. I think many top end units have higher decks.

I'm about to buy the 9.35 version. I think it's good for what I'm going to use it for.

I took the plunge! I ordered the Smooth 9.35. I think I got a good deal because yesterday it was $1799, and today it was $1699. Also I got the $50 coupon off (couldn't find the 5% off coupon), free shipping, no tax. So $1649.

You clicked this thread because you want to help out a fellow forum member who asked for a recommendation/help. Right?

Next year when it is sitting there collecting dust gsd656 had a crisp $100 bill for it for you. lol. J/k. Gool luck with your training, but seriously, if you are training for the big race, running inside will not cut it. If you are serious, join a training group and get running.

I have one my wife bought and hardly used. If you are interested in a used one, I can give you the details of the make and model. But on the bro tip, when we were shopping around I found that at my weight (205lbs) some of the lower priced treadmills the tread would stick and throw me off. This one has no problems moving my fat ass and so not knowing your size, I would say thats a key point in purchasing one.
