Rinehart has a point, working hard is one way to make a lot of money. Another way is to inherit a boatload of it and turn that wealth into more wealth. Rinehart may be more familiar with the second route.
Sure, she turned that into a lot and I mean A LOT more money, but having a cool $75,000,000 in the bank sure helps jump start that.

When her father died in 1992, he left the mining mogul $75 million and, yes, she multiplied that sum by 386 over the past 20 years, according to AOL Daily Finance.
Interesting. If your Dad gave you $75 today, could you turn it into $28,950 in twenty years?

Sure, I'm sure I could do what she did.

Her dad left her $75 million and a fully set up and successful mining company that absolutely blew up during the mining boom. All she had to do was not fuck it up and trust the judgement of the people her daddy put in place to run it.

Yes, I'm jealous as fuck.

Ya think she really does? - I applaud her for stepping up and saying what she did - Sparked a TON of controversy - Hard work ethics among the rich are not all that uncommon

- Ellison
- Gates
- Jobs

All busted ass and are some of the wealthiest men to ever live - Hell, Ellison never even graduated HS

She didn't triple the business, the business went up 386X over 20 years. (Err, I'd have to fact check this. If you add in the worth of the business at the time, I'm sure it's a lot lower). Just ignore this part

Notice how I said the business. The business that her dad had built and was very successful the employed a lot of very smart people. The big mining boom happened and the business sky rocketed. All she had to do was trust those smart people.

If her father, the man that set her up to become the richest woman in the world made a statement like that, I'd completely agree. Guess I'm just sick of the people born on third base who act like they hit a triple.

Who is John Galt?

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"

She is not stating "I am rich and be like me" - She is stating, "if you want more in life, work hard and quit being lazy" - Responses like yours are EXACTLY what people are up in arms over - If she was a middle class person, people would say, "Who are you to talk, I make more than you now" - If she was Broke, the same would apply - Regardless of how she got her money, she is stating to all those who hate on the rich that if they are unhappy cuz others have more, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

Take off the blinders and see it for what it is, with an open mind - Its not that difficult

You're not getting it. I have no problem with the rich and what she is saying, I very much agree with it even though it's blatantly obvious, almost a "No shit Sherlock" type statement.

I just don't like her.

Bug, I really don't think she is saying that. Noodles is right. I don't agree with people bitching about the rich, but Inheriting a fortune and letting someone manage it for you is different then starting from scratch. And as far as the folks who started from scratch and made it big, they are a minority. They are the lucky and or brilliant ones. Most people who start with nothing can set themselves up in a decent situation by working hard and finding some luck on the way, but they will not end up on any top worth lists.
