Anyone ever been to South Korea?

I'm going for work. Just curious of anything to keep in mind or good to know about. Whether it's joking or serious, I don't care. Fire away.

Well - you're not going to feel quite as short. That's something?

Have fun, ride a scooter, try the kimchi and ask the locals if they still watch M*A*S*H reruns too!

I've been there about 3-5 time. It's a great place with nice people. Cabs are fine, food is great! You may see a lot of areas where housing and storefronts look like shacks, but don't be afraid. It's not the ghetto. Try Korean BBQ of you can although is expensive there. Find a Korean coworker to take you to meals and you will get to experience some really nice things.

That can also be said if he's going to Itaewon.

I lived in Seoul for a year, lots to do just like any major city. Go out and enjoy the local sites.

And pretty much everything Skeletor said.

A friend of mine went there on business a few times, be prepared to stay out late and drink your ass off. M-F they insisted on taking him out to get sloppy every night. Guess it is common for young professionals. He didn't want to be rude and went, this guy can drink and he even said these guys were over the top. LOL....

I was in Seoul for around 24 hours. Landed, ate some food and went to a Russian Whiskey Bar (that was the name of it) outside of the hotel. Went to a meeting the next day and flew to Hong Kong.

Guess I'm not much help

CRC is a world away from Busan, Osan, or Seoul. Its between Seoul and the DMZ. Not much up there but mountains and machine gun nests.

If you have time get down to Seoul.

Hey Nick, you're gonna love how people use motorcycles there. Get your camera ready, you're gonna see all kinds of stuff strapped to them. And people regularly ride on the sidewalks to keep your head on a swivel.

Have a local take you out for begogi (sp?).

Lots of night clubs and bars, if that's your thing. If you want history check out the War Memorial of Korea. Its a big museum, I think it'd be right up your alley. Outside there are a ton of tanks and airplanes. Its right next to Yongsan garrison in Seoul.

I was just in Seoul last week. There are quite a few culture shocks, and their English sucks big time (may as well be no English). You will find people read English better than talking it, so consider writing what you want. Expect to confused when ordering; I don't think I ever got exactly what I thought I was ordering.

Everyone there is very well dressed and up to their eyeballs in debt. Even the taxi drivers are wearing button up shirts. Massage parlors are part of the culture and all over the place. There is no grinding in the clubs, but the guys are uber aggressive (they grab girls by the arm and drag them to their table, no joke.)

The clubs are a lot of fun, but have a 3rd world feel. There is very little service anywhere. Barteneders do an awesome job though (even playing with fire). Korean's are lightweights, they might drink often, but they sure as fuck can't keep up.

Internet Explorer is mandatory there, though their internet is pretty good. Get yourself a local sim with data as google translate will help a ton.
