How can you stand in the same room as the treadmill? or do you plan on putting the treadmill part torwards the doorway so you can walk right into it.

I already told you before. That room with the TV is my man-office. The main mancave is outside. There's room! Just wait and see.

it's not about it being boring. It's about being motivated. It's about being healthy. It's about accessibility. It's about convenience. It's about not running on concrete and getting a bum knee or shin splins. Etc, etc.

Once I get this thing in the mancave I'll give you guys weekly report. This thread will grow to be the biggest thread ever posted in all mankind. Just you wait.

Rocky trained in Russia, but he was a man, and had a man HOUSE.

Besides, we don't get snow here, we can run year round.

By that point in time you will have done what most people do with tread mills, use it to hang cloths on.

I paid $1700 for this treadmill. I'm going to get $1700 worth of running on it. Let's say it's 10 cents a mile. According to my calculation I'm going to have to run.... $1700 * (1 mile/10cents) * (100cents/$1) = 17000 miles.

Hmmm. Doable, I think. I plan to run three times a week, at least 3 miles each. So let's make it an even 10miles/wk. Times 52wk/yr = 520 miles/yr.

17000/520 = 32.7 years.

If my wife runs on it too she'll probably run 5 miles/wk. That's 260 miles/yr.

17000/780 = 21.8 years.

When my kids grow up they might run too. Let's say 100 miles/yr to compensate for years not running.

17000/880 = 19.3 years.

Let's add in marathon training every other year at 1000 miles / yr.

17000/1880 = 9 years.

So in 9 years my investment will pay off.

So you're going to run every mile inside? motivation will be tough. Marathon training is mentally taxing, it will be really hard doing it exclusively indoors. Get that thing set up so you can start posting in the running thread, haven't seen you there in a couple months.

I think the last month I ran was MAY! I am so ashame. However, I do have an excuse That was the time I was house hunting and spending a lot of time on the internet and with the realtor/mortgage guy.

I REALLY need to get this treadmill into my basement. It's not going to be an easy task because I can't get it down my stairs because the previous owner took that out and put in a spiral staircase!!! It does free up a lot of the kitchen and I kinda like it. Another bad thing about the stairs is I probably can't put a sofa in the basement. I do have a outside basement stairs, but because of the deck it limits the height of stuff to bring in. Did I mention this is a huge treadmill?

What I need is motivation and not looking/talking down upon. I'm really serious about running a marathon, and with a little peer pressure I'm sure I can do it!
