Commuting to Work

Just curious how is everyones commute to work:

How far each way?
Car/Bike/Bus/Train?
How long does it take?
Do you feel that is too long?

oh...and congrats to the telecommuters, no need to rub it in to everyone else.

Greg

Gonna rub in my telecommute: I work from home 2-3 times a week.

I live in Naperville, it takes 12 minutes to drive to the train station, 34 minutes on the train, and 6 minutes to walk to my office. So under an hour each way and I sleep and read for most of the commute. No complaints here.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

edit: 45 on the train inbound, 34 outbound.

Curious, why is your ride longer on the inbound?

20ish miles and 45 mins driving each way. Obviously I'd prefer a shorter commute, but I'm okay with it.

29 miles | 35 mins by car | 20 mins by bike | the ride is okay when caging it, just sucks cuz traffic isn't as maneuverable as when in a bike. Plus a lot more enjoyable cruising the freeway on the crotchy making obscene gestures at hot girls trying to make their way into the city

Outbound train is express to my stop. Inbound makes 4 more stops after mine.

Gotcha. When I leave early the train I take makes a couple of stops before Naperville.

8 miles each way, about 10-15 minues time.

You can't put a price on living close to work. One huge advantage is being able to zip out to your childs school to see every play, or class/school function.

Why are you being such a slacker, it should take you less time on a bicycle then in a car. WTF!

Short

3.5 miles but it's through stupid Chicago city stop signs and lights. Have the light timings memorized haha.

12 min by moto and 15-20 min by car.

Ehh, my commute is 38 miles each way, 1.5 hours in the morning on average, and the same going back. Motorcycle or car, both are generally the same times.

Snow commute is a reason to call off work, that was a 5.5 hour commute the last good storm.

17 miles one way. I drive to work DT everyday. It takes 45 min door to door by motorcycle and 1 hour by truck. Thats the time to walk to the parking garage pay and drive home ect. My parking cost $31 a day but its paid for by my work. I have been doing this for the better part of 17 years.

Oh btw I get paid from the min. I walk out the door till the min I get back home.

7 miles 15 minutes approximately. It's pretty damn good. Traffic is fairly light too. I don't take my bike to work all the time mostly I cage it.
