First Tattoo Idea's??

I've been playing with the idea of getting a tattoo for the past few months and am looking for ideas/ pic's.

I'm a mechanic and have been wrenching on car's and bikes since I can remember. I was thinking of doing something like a piston and a wrench crossed over, something really clean and sharp. Color for sure, and I like new age styling.

Idea's? Advice? Anyone artistic want to sketch up a ducati piston and matco wrench?

I wouldn't do it myself. That's just me. I have considered it from time to time. Then I think back to how many things I liked at one time or another and how many of those things that I don't care for now. So if I had that hack shit so called art on my body and I didn't like it any longer I'd be stuck with it or have to get some sort of removal done. That trap stamp that you are so looking forward to today will be down your ass in 20 years.

I know you didn't ask. With that being said if you are still insistent on doing it the piston might be better. Maybe that sexual innuendo that seals the deal for you.

Just remember a "first" tattoo is exactly that. You will get more. So make sure you get it where you want it.

What I did was think of someone I loved and lost. I then thought of something both they AND I liked. Now every time I look at it it reminds me of a loved one that is gone. Kind of a tribute to them and only you will know if you like.

My plan was always to settle on an idea and sit on it for a year, if I still want it after a year I would get it. Hasn't happened yet, tastes change.

That being said, I always liked bigger cohesive tattoo designs, rather than one here and another here all random like. But that's just me.

As a mechanic don't tattoo your hands or forearms. With so much washing, they will look like crap very soon. You need to find a shop that does solid work, and have they draw you something. Tomato tattoo near you, and b-distinct tattoos are two shops I would go to. Brian is the shop owner at www.bdistincttattoos.com and is one of the best artists in the Chicago area. I have a large piece from him, and it's solid.

You should consider getting the tattoo on your face. That way no one will ever question how much you like wrenching. You'll never hear "oh that guy is probably just a casual hobby type mechanic that likes to change his oil once in awhile".

No way. With a full blown face tattoo they'll be like, "Whoa! I bet that guy wrenches for Nascar or maybe even fucking NASA! Serious business!"

Just throwing out some ideas for ya.

funny shit......

I was originally thinking something on my upper back, maybe the size of a CD. No names or branding or anything, it's what I've always done and will probably always do.

With that said...any other decent places out here?
