i was kind of surprised how high this thing revs to get to 80mph in 5th gear. I expected a much taller OD.

Thats how "ze germans'' do it . My EuroVan would rev 4k rpm at 68-70 mph. You can buy a fifth gear with a taller ratio . About a 2-3 hour job .
