How do you find people via the net?

I am interested in looking up a couple people from high school that i dont talk to anymore to see where they are and what they are up to. I am more or less looking to do this for mere amusement. No interest in contacting them. I want to do this via the web without having to pay for any of the online services. How do you go about this? And I have looked at Classmates.com and they arent on there.

If you know what city they live in, you can go to www.whitepages.com

It's kind of a cheezy place to start, but it's free.
