You'd think with that kind of price tag they could put in the extra effort to use proper English to appeal to those willing to fork over $6M for a "deommissioned" aircraft carrier. lol

OMG-- and there's only a $2k deposit required? That's funny.

that has got to be a scam. the damn picture looks like it is very poorly mocked up. And is it just me or does that look like a damn oil rig tower on the deck? The control tower is too small. I would guess this is a scam.

Or, this is the US government's new idea on catching dumb ass terrorists who think they can actually buy our shit?

My friend showed me this last week. I told him we should buy it make a floating dragstrip out of it. The NHRA would eat that up and give us venues' hand over foot.

HA! the last thing the highest bidder bought was a Nikon battery for $13.48. now, he's bidding over $6 million.
its also interesting that the starting bid was $6 million...and the 7 bidders have only ran it up $1,200?!?!?!?!

All about the bargain man. As for the legitimacy, I think it's real. Remember, this thing was built in '42. That's probably what they looked like back then. This thing screams international waters shenanigans a-la the Simpsons. Then again, it would probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $10K just to fill up the gas tank...so I wouldn't make it very far.

it costs more than 10k to fill the tanks on a commercial airliner, this thing would cost substantially more!!

and that is a great simpsons episode.

Last I checked, commercial airliners tend to use the slightly more expensive "jet fuel" to get around. $10K worth of diesel fuel sounds like a lot to me. Then again, I'm sure 36,000hp isn't the most efficient. I dunno.

As for the episode, when you can combine a Box Social with monkey knife fights...you know you've got a classic on your hands.

All you knot heads that want to make this a dragstrip are missing about 1000 ft. in brain cells.........the deck is only 690 ft long, unless of course you want to see how well your bikes can swim the last 1000 feet!

BTW, shipping costs extra....... What, 7mil and it don't come with a full tank? WTF?

I think it would look really cool in the yard......it would JUST fit on my lot.
