Rebuilt titles???

How hard will it be to register an out of state rebuilt title? I plan on buying a bike from Florida. It's a rebuilt though. The price is just so good I can't pass it up! Let me hear the 411 from you guys and gals! Also, anybody going and coming from Florida who might want to make some cash bringing me the bike? If not, I'll Forwardair it.

I'd call the sec of state in springfield about that one. oh and the answer they give you will not be real, no one there ever knows what they are talking about.

anyway though I'd do it if the deals great and then start the process up here what ever it is.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I got some guys that are going to Daytona for Spring Break and picking up a demolition derby car in Georgia. Let me see if they have room on the trailer.

I'm pretty sure WI just has a trooper do an inspection on teh vehicle, signs the paper and you take it to the DMV and they give you a new title (usually a reconstructed vehicle title). IL might be the same.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Just resurrecting this thread.

I'm wondering what Javio found out. I have the same question. Any help?

Well Chris, the guys at Speed Limit said that it would be titled like normal, no hassles. If it has a junk title then it's a totally different ball game.

like rob said above you have to goto the state troopers office they take down the vehin Vin# engine serial # make sure all the proper legal fittings are on signals headlights and whatever else then you have to wait about 2 weeks (7 to 10 Business days) to get a letter from the police office then you can go apply for registration. MAKE sure all the legal stuff is ok before you take and you'll have no probs

hope i can hold onto my license this summer

You can take an out-of-state salvage or rebuilt title, go straight to the DMV and get yourself plates and a clean Illinois title in your name. You can't do that with a salvage Illinois title, but out of state appears to be a loop hole in the system at least in Illinois, because as far as I know the only people that can get a rebuilt title in Illinois for a Illinois salvage title is a certified shop.
